  1. First and foremost, you will find that a quality metal or plastic reel a worthwhile investment. I prefer SS because is will always load, plastic can be problems, especially in humid weather or if any moisture is on them from previous use. However, when I do color and use my Jobo, I have to use plastic and will say, the Jobo work better than other plastic that I have used. If processing manually, I always use SS. JMHO
  2. I came to the conclusion that Xtol is a great developer and needs a bit of extra attention regarding storage. I now use the same procedure with other developers like D76 or Dektol.

I mix it up and store it in 20 250ml glass amber bottles, filled to the brim. Some plastics are not good for storing developer, only Pet 1 does a good job of not letting oxygen in. I prefer glass.

In using the stock, once I open the bottle, I use it all up or dump whats left.

I purchase a ton of bottles, brand new, so if you need any, check the for sale area, they are very inexpensive.

  3. First, the bad.

Impossible to read. Blue text on black background? Like reading a book in a darkroom while loading film (safe lights off).

Then the good, great photos, interesting bio, self portrait, very communicative.

Might want to make the pictures click-able as well as text that you now do.

    Good Luck

  4. Own both. The F3, pro model, rugged, easy to use, fast, 100% view finder, interchangeable finder, mirror lock up. Uses all the system lens.

FA, amateur model, use most Nikon system lens, program mode. Similar to Nikon FE with more electronic modes.

At the time these were new, the F3 was the top of line, FA, FE the middle, FG and EM the entry level.

The F3 I use all the time, got the FA for the wife, she never uses and neither do I. I do use the FE as a back up. Easier to use for me.

    Regards

  5. I would buy used, should be able to get a sturdy tripod for $100 or so. Bogen is a good brand. readily available. You can then upgrade to a good ball head later, if you think you need this. The ball head is nice but you may be happy with the regular head. More important is a tripod must be steady. What drives the cost up is getting sturdy and light weight in one unit. Unless you plan to do a lot of backwoods hiking, heavy is not a problem.

    Good Luck.
