Taken late at night

Typical isn't it. The day I point and just shoot produces a better image than

if I'd spend an hour setting white balance and exposure!!!!! Maybe I should

do it more often than just thinking about it

Eager to learn so any criticism is most welcome

I'm no expert (I'm in the same boat as you) but I think there is over exposure on the arm of the chair and the 'teddy'? to her right, also to her face. This can be rectified using software but otherwise I like it - it's natural!

How on earth do you get the soft focus, please could you tell us how you achieve this effect as my images always feel too sharp and not very flattering
