  1. Ali, this is a great shot, not too over-sharpened with plenty of detail in the feathers, great colour control and a classic pose. The eyes burn through the lens at you. I presume this great hunter was tethered?!?! Regards Chris.
  2. I too prefer the original file, it's warmer and saturated, showing off the stone of the Castle. You need to watch the noise on the images with the Castle as the exposure meter can be fooled by the spotlights. I'd suggest putting this image through Noise Ninja or similar in PS... Edinburgh is so atmospheric at night... take a look at the few shots I have at http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=567781... Regards, Chris.
  3. Great capture of the water falling. I like the almost ghost-like nature of the falls, however a tighter crop might would have worked better for me. Still a great photograph though, well done.

Beautiful shot, I love the muted tones and the sombre mood created by your lighting. I also like the juxtaposition of the arms to the veil on the left. Well done Gundega.

Enrique, this is a great shot but I think it needs the colour pushing a little. On my monitor (which I have just freshly profiled) I get a magenta colour cast. Otherwise a great image. Chris
  4. Fantastic Peter, this is a great shot considering the time you had available. How do you get on with the extender? I was toying with the idea of getting a 2x for my 70-200 f2.8L IS... do all functions work OK when attached?
  5. Thanks for the comments Bente and Henri. Henri, I think the effect you've pointed out has come from the method used to desaturate the image. I used a Soft Light blend mode of the Red and Blue channels in the Calculations dialog in Photoshop. This has had the net effect of reducing the clouds across the moon leaving it looking like the moon is in front of the clouds. I have attached a revised calculations attempt and this one is much better I hope you agree. Chris.

Alex this is a superb shot and I love the composition and the colour. Exposure is spot on... speaking of spots though, I couldn't help notice that in the right of the shot you appear to have some dust on the sensor of your camera or a rain spot on your lens...could even be a blurred duck... In any case it is a tad distracting and I would crop or clone it out to give the picture the perfect 7/7.
