$1250 for used Summilux 75 is dirt cheap and the last nickle bargain in America. It is large and unwieldy but close to perfect for portraits of children, cats. I have Summicron 90 as well but find I seldom use it since I got the 'lux.

Take the Leica. I agree with Beau. Within common sense bounds NYC is not dangerous as American cities go. Watch your neighborhood and your subjects. Tape over the red ball and where it says "Leica" and most people, as you well know, have no idea what's hanging around yr neck (or better, under yr coat).
Happy shooting.

I have three CV lenses and just today received first Bessa body. Very neat, very cheap, it is not a Leica. The release sounds like an old M14 chambering a round. My M6, by comparison, is hardly audible. Good value? Yes, to be sure. Neat? Absolutely. Is it Leica quality? Not even close, okay, not very close.
The question of lenses, glass, etc. is a more subtle inquiry. I am a rank amateur and would not presume to offer an opinion except to say the VC is neat, innovative and dirt cheap by comparison. My VC 35/1.2 is simply not -- to my inexpert eye -- in the same ballpark as my 'lux75/1.4 or my Noctilux, performance-wise.
I defer to those with more experience and talent but to my half-blind eye Leica is far ahead of VC in terms of quality and performance. Erwin Puts I ain't.

I believe they are counting on fools like me who believe (true or not) their products' quality is worth the price asked. I put off owning Leica stuff for years because I could not afford it. I regret my prudence now because I enjoy the products so much and wish I had more time to fondle, drool over and use Leica RFs and their overpriced lenses.

Have you tried Dale Labs, Hollywood, Florida?

I lost one last year blundering around Cathedrale Notre-Dame in Luxemborg City at dark. It started to snow and there was no chance of finding it. KEH sold me a used one. It was not especially cheap but I did not have to wait. I like the idea of tethering it to the shade.

A very nice shot I think. St. Anthony?

Terrific stuff! I particularly like the color shot of the old guy -- being a blown out old gym rat myself! Great going.

Rene,
Neat shot, nothing to be embarrassed about.
