Ice crystals formed on a car window, shot from inside the car.
I've been looking at this for too long and no longer know whether it's any
good or not, so please comment.
Thanks...

Thanks, Guys.
Jim, I think you'll find lots of photo opportunities on Route 66 in New Mexico and Arizona. The problem with 66 is that it's so damn fragmented in most areas. I think the longest continuous stretch is between Ash Fork and Kingman, if you can get there. West of Ash Fork, look for the replicated Burma Shave signs. They'll take you back a few years...
Cheers,
Bill

Thanks, Paul. It's Hackberry, AZ, on Route 66 between Kingman and Seligman...

Thanks, John. No, we were in kind of a hurry that day and never even made it up the stairs. We'll be going back, though, so I'll check out the blue door. Mainly, though, I want to get on the other side of the gorge for shots of the old mill and the falls...

Thanks, Kathy - and that's the plan!

This is a field in the flood plain of the French Broad River, either in
eastern Tennessee or western North Carolina. I really need to get a
GPS.

Grassy Cove is a beautiful, magic place on the Cumberland Plateau.
So, I'm not telling where it is.

Thanks, Larry. I think the high contrast is part of what makes the ocotillo stand out, so I'll stick with it. Your point about the noise is well taken, though, and I've fixed it in the original TIFF file...

Thanks, Usha. I try not to edit out anything that doesn't seem to be distracting, but since you noticed the wires and posts, I'll think about it...

Very nice shot - thanks for posting it! Who could resist? Certainly not me - as long as it's followed by a nice cup of hot spiced cider in front of the fire...

Defunct water tank in Salome, AZ, which collapsed not long after this
shot was taken (I think you can see why.)
Salome is in the desert not far from Quartzsite. If you're in the area, you
should know that the second syllable in "Salome" is pronounced to rhyme
with "home". Using the biblical, three-syllable pronunciation (sal-oh-may)
is one way the locals can tell you're not from around there. That, and the
lack of chronic sunburn...

Ice Crystals
in Nature
Posted
Thanks, Linda. The crystals were all on the outside. The layered effect may be due to a temperature change during the previous night's storm...
