Why not save a bundle and get the 85mm f/1.8? I have that lens and I absolutely love it.

J, the 135mm is the sharpest lens I own.

J, while you're on the phone with B&H, go ahead and order the 85mm f/1.8 and the 135mm f/2. Oh, why stop there. You'll need the 24-70mm f/2.8L too. LOL. No, seriously for $320 you really should get the 85mm f/1.8. It goes perfectly with the 5D.

J, I have a 20D and a 5D. There's really no competition in terms of performance. I know you shoot portraits, weddings, and landscapes. The 5D is perfect for all of those. The only aspect of the 30D that is better than the 5D is faster fps and of course the cost, but when it comes to shooting high ISO with little noise, nothing beats a 5D. I shot a wedding this past weekend and used both cameras. The noise difference was HUGE. Get the 5D! It's worth the extra $.

There are only a few HDR images that I have seen that look realistic. Most have been cartoonish, sloppy, and muddy looking. If that is your intention than great, but if you just want to create an image with high dynamic range than consider manually blending exposures. Here's a shot where I took 5 exposures and used layer masks to blend them.

Yes, you can process the same photo in RAW, but keep in mind that the more you move those sliders, the more you'll loose in image quality. It's better to get the exposure form the camera than to manipulate it in post processing.

Mark, no, technically you cannot make an HDR image with one exposure. HDR is created from a set of several exposures. What your're thinking of is tone mapping.

Mike, I'm not sure what you're using for HDR, but Photoshop's merge to HDR function will not work with one file even if you process in RAW several times. You can however, process the RAW file several times to get different exposures and manually blend them in PS using layer masks.

Mike, I really have no experience with extension tubes so forgive me for my ignorance. Why would I need 3 tubes? Can I stack them together?

Well the 100mm f/2.8 is a macro lens, therefore it can focus closer than a normal lens. I was just wondering if I added the EF 25 II, would it allow me to focus "that much closer"?

Stupid question I guess, but will it just allow me to focus that much closer than the lens is capable of now?

Mount your camera on a tripod, use a remote release, take several exposures, keeping the aperture constant and changing only your shutter speeds. Manually blend the exposures with layer masks. The example I posted was a blend of 5 exposures. I started with the brightest part of the image and worked to the darkest.

It will continue to be like this until the site realizes that there's an issue with the current ratings system. The site refuses to at least acknowledge that the ratings system is easily manipulated. We see it every day. When silly photos get to the top of the TRP because the mate rate posse is in full effect, while the decent photos are trashed with 3/3s. Soon the site will lose credibilty and it will be nothing more than a joke, unless the system gets an overhaul.

I've seen some weird results with HDR. I manually blend exposures to get a high dynmaic range. It's a little more work but well worth it. <br>

I'm shooting a wedding next Saturday and I'm faced with a posing challenge.

While the couple is very attractive, the bride is maybe 5 ft 4' and the groom

is 6 ft 5'. When I'm shooting couples, I like their faces as close as possible

so I can keep both of their eyes sharp. I'm going to have 2 Alien Bee 800s in

a soft box for formals so I'll be able to use f/5.6 or even f/8 to get more

DOF, but does anyone else have any other ideas for posing them? One thing I

thought of so far would be to have her a little closer to the camera. I know

typically this is taboo, but what else could I do? Thanks in advance for the

Larry, you have 2 options. For PC, go to Edit-Preferences-click on the File Management tab and for <b> When a memory card is detected: </b> choose <b> Do Nothing </b> in the drop down list. If that doesn't fix it, If you're running Windows, go to Start-Run, type msconfig and click Okay. Click on the startup tab and uncheck apdproxy.
