Jack, it is literally looking through a hole in the wall at the Boy Charlton Pool (Woollomoloo Sydney City). The foreground is of course the wall (with a window/hole in it) and the guy is on a deckchair beside the pool, behind him is the ocean... ah ha !

Jack, the attached is basically a "straight" photo, not a composite (although I have cloned out the guys distracting back pack), also the wall took on a purplish tone from the original greyer tone after adjusting levels/contrast, but you're right about the border.
-
No separate colour changes in this shot, in adjusting levels /
contrast etc all colours have maintained the correct balance, I hope ?

I guess I am a bit off-beat in some ways. I am largely motivated to avoid prettying photo's up, eg: cropping essential elements even if they might seem ugly at first. The fact some of my pics get ratings but no comments could indicate one of several things, none of which I know for sure. I took another photo at this pool but because it was poorly rated and received some very negative criticism (as opposed to constructive criticism) I took it down as I couldn't cope with having a less-than-average overall rating, poor me ;-) But for those of you (like Jack) who seem to appreciate something different I have attached it below...

Part of an exhibition at an Art Gallery. Comments welcomed,
appreciated and hoped for. Thanks!

Great composition, everything is tied nicely together, the complimentary colours, the storyline, the basic shapes. I would have given 7/7 but just wish the horizon was level.

Scanned from a 645 medium format positive, taken in China 1992.

Maaaaaaa, this poor lamb became sparated from it's mother and was
very scared. Comments welcome.

Photographed from across the Sydney Harbour at Circular Quay. Applied
higher contrast to Luna Park Entrance to emphasise it's dominance
amongst much larger plants and structures.
-
Scanned from a 645 medium format camera positive taken 1992. All
Comments appreciated.

Alexander, You have captured a great contemplative? moment emphasised really well with the colour of the bracelet BUT I am not sure about cutting off the subjects elbow. Otherwise 7/6

Scanned from a Photo Printed around 1985. Driving along with a friend
and spontaneously aimed the camera when I saw this scene, asked my
friend to beep the horn and "gotcha".

I'm not sure how to class this image, scanned from a photo taken
twenty years ago. It has always held special memories and seems
magical to me...but technically it could be better of course.

Hendro, this is great. I love your taste in furniture / accessories and really thought this was the cover of a Magazine. I just want to reach in and inch that mirror towards the centre of the shot., it's part of my OCD ;-) I might try that number too, ha!

A tight crop to emphasise the action of main subject. Any comments?

As promised 7/7 in the ratings. So far no one else seems as impressed as me (having accepted your "no manipulation" criteria) but truly I am blown away by the sheer likeness to a sea horse. I guess it's horses for courses (excuse the pun)but you've sold me. Congrats on a marvelous capture.

This guy seems very focused on his job.

Thanks for the comments. I have now cropped out all those distracting elements and made a central subject and more recognisable pattern from fewer hats. I think it works better than original ? (seee attached original)
