Nice looking kit. Price is good if as nice as it looks. The 50 goes for 500 to 900 bucks or so alone typically. I have almost this exact
setup, never bothered with a CLA and has worked great. I don't get the hysteria of doing CLA especially for amateur use, and I actually
don't like idea of ever loosening any screws. I figure if shutters sound good and camera winds smooth, just use it. The 50 is a great
lens, but I think I like the 150 even more.

For reference here's a drum scan from a 645 frame at about 4500 dpi rez (9975 x 7504 pixels = approx 75 Mpix). This is from a Pentax 645, 55mm f2.8, Provia 100F. You should be able to double this for a 6x9 frame I would think. ~1/10 crop to follow...

The Costco I use for color film will scan
at about 5400x3600. Processing only
plus DVD for 36 frames is under $5.
Scans are large but still overly
processed.

Been pretty happy with the results, prices, and turnaround with North Coast Photographic Services in Carlsbad, CA. They also do decent scans (~25 Mpixel for 6x6) for about $12/roll at time of processing. I think they use dip-n-dunk too.

If it's 120 or 220, stuff the exposed rolls in your pockets. The metal detector won't pick it up. I've also done this with 35mm before on a cruise ship and the small amount of aluminum in the canister wasn't enough to set it off either, multiple rolls might trigger it though. Otherwise I just send it on thru the scanner, have never had any problems, but then again I didn't push my 400 TMY or TX much either.

I just spent $41 yesterday for 31 prints from one roll of Ektar 100 -- 5x7" prints with a hi-res CD scan as well... the film itself was what, another $6?... also add in the extra travel time & gasoline to drop off/retrieve the prcoessing.

Yikes! At nearly $50/roll, that would be my last roll of color film. But since this was originally posted in the B&W film forum, it can be done for as little as ~$2.50 with chems for 120 and probably under $2/roll for bulkloaded 35mm, of course w/o prints.

Because the feel of a film winder on a Hasselblad or F3 is somehow therapeutic.

I've gotten Costco scans at 2000x3000 rez many times and they are OK for $3 or whatever it is, but they seem like they are even less than 8 bit depth, possibly 4 bit, the scans don't offer a lot of adjustment and will posterize real quick. The best scans I've seen off a Frontier or Noritsu have been done by NCPS in Carlsbad. They offer an "enhanced scan" that is quite good for the price around $12 a roll. I've seen that pastel look you are talking about and like NPH for that same reason.

Buying 1st Hasselblad- is this a good deal?

I still think the first deal is better, the body is basically a freebie at that price with some very nice looking lenses. 20 year
old body that looks that good didn't likely see many miles, worse case is lubricants are a bit gummed up, still think Internet
hysteria over CLA is overblown. Only problem I ran into with my kit (very similar) is a light seal was leaking on one of my
backs. You can replace these yourself if you have a jewelers screwdriver about 25 bucks for seals.
