  1. I know they are pricey, but I swear by the Kinderman SS reels and loading system. I worked with a no name plastic reel/tank combo for a while and it was okay for 35mm but when I moved up to 120 it just killed me, I ruined many rolls that I wish I could have back...

I sucked it up and purchased the kinderman reels/loading system/tank and I am so so happy with them; I really cannot reccomend them enough. I understand that the more hardcore, and unkind, folks on p.net are laughing at me now... thats OK. To me, the the photos I take and the joy I get from them are worth it. I understand that Hewes also has a loading system, but I have never used it or seen it. Good luck!

  2. I also use an ice water bath, I keep a few blue ice packs in the freezer for this purpose and I use a small plastic cooler to hold the bath water in. I start with two 68deg preesoaks to get the steel tank to the proper temp. I cool the D76 while it presoaks, then cool the fixer while the developer is working. I get very consistent results using this method. You might want to experiment once or twice with your chemicals tho, it may take you more than 6 or 7 minutes to go from 80 to 68 and I'm not sure how an 80deg stop bath would effect your process.

    Good luck!

  3. Hi everyone, thanks in advance for your help,

I'd like to get my 35mm and medium format film cross processed but

my lab will not do this service. Can anyone recomend a lab that

will do this in Bergen County, or close to here? I am willing to

travel a bit outside of Bergen County as well but I'd rather not

have to cross into Manhatten as the gas/tolls/parking can get sort

of expensive, and I just do this for the fun of it. Thanks a lot,

  4. Hi,

don't know if you have any cash to spare, but most cities have production houses where you can rent a "flicker box". Its a strobe light that fires at a random rate that simulates a flickering TV, or fireplace, or lightning, depending on the rate you set it to as well as the gel's and diffusion you apply in front of it. You could throw a blue sheet over it, prop it up in a creative way, and see what happens...
