Sultan, what makes this different from an ID or passport photo? She's cute, but...?
-
has a lot of "life" in it because you have caught expressions. it is far better than some of your other portraits for this reason.

you play some very interesting "tricks" indeed...this is great because it forces the viewer to think about viewing, both the child subject's viewing and the viewer's viewing of both she and her mom. and the pleasure both the child and viewer gets from what he/she sees. the crop is perfect, because the portraits exaggerate or are exclusively faces, and mom is is faceless.

in this case, the "street" is over 2000 years old...

i never saw this "trick" before; people do something similar with "the leaning tower of Pisa" in Italy. check out my pic of how the lawn is mowed at the taj, in one of my india folders, if you wish. best, michae

I count five, of which most are "minor", but I (again most humbly) will suggest my taking the photo is "up there", but of course NOT in the same league as the greats whom I so admire, like
H C-B, Helen Levitt, Ruth Orkin, Arthur Winogrand, Walker Evans, etc etc
-
thank you. I have so much more scanning to do!

first time ever shooting "monochrome" setting in a DSLR.

Out of 150 today, I think 5 or so will qualify for "requesting
critique." More later.
