  1. not that obvious to many people - until you've been there, you always think that you can somehow will your way to keeping control... Well, you can't. When driving 60mph in something that weighs 80000 punds stops being a good enough argument to keep your eyes open... well, you are tired! But most people think it won't happen to them.

This is an interesting photo, though. I like images like this one for their "editorial" feel.

  2. Definitely a cool subject an M3 GTR is not something you see everyday!

But from a photo standpoint, the apex of a really tight turn may not be the best point to catch them from the angle you tried to do it - its difficult to get a good smooth panning motion, and the car kind of "stops" there as far as how much ground it covers compared to your fireld of vision.

the pass. side and back window make the fake background obvious, as does the reflection little hatchback in the door makes the same obvious and distracting. I guess you can't fix everything with photoshop...
  3. wow - I wish I had the miles under my boots to have such stories. but I am glad that I have a computer where I can at least re-live those of other people! Awesome stuff.

One point though - having driven big trucks for a living - I can assure you that yes, hte traffic density is a factor, but the idea of one of these even on an empty road is truly daunting. A point of interest - I find female truck drivers, when straight out of school(taking experience out of the equation) to be generally better than the men. They go into it with an empty glass, ready to learn... with most guys the belief that testicles give us some divine right to all things mechanical makes us less receptive to the lessons we need to learn, hehehehhee.

Those rebars on the front look truly daunting - but I guess you explained the reasons vividly enough! I think taking one for a spin would be an experience! What a monster! And what a good job showing it to us! Thanks.:)

  4. I think the aim of this shot is very well served - I have seen tonnes of koala photos - this one made me stop an look. Actually, it made me drag my wife in front of the computer to see it. We had a great laugh - the expression, like I already said is priceless! And as far as technique and so on, it is a flawlessly executed image. Good job!
  5. You know... this just gets me going. You get an idiot that doesn't even bother to read the method that this photo was taken making comments (not that he's probably familiar enough with anything other than his computer to know anything about photography) .

Well, Juan, maybe YOU should learn how to use a camera - you won't need your Photoshop so damn much. Of course, do that after you learn how to read.

This photo was taken on a sunny day, in high contrast lighting obviously, and shows exactly what you would see on such a day. The colours are vibrant, and maybe a little too rich for some tastes, but by no means deserving of such a stupid and non-constructive attack. Some people's children... I tell ya'...

  6. My comment was just a slight suggestion on the skin tones - not the photo as a whole - I see the white in the boxes and window. I didn't mean that the skin should be all white.

It is an interesting image - certainly got me thinking "hmmm, I wonder what happened here...", and I like a story that speaks through a photo ofthis nature.

Well - like I said - it is largely a matter of preference, and we photographers are slaves to the light that is given to us. Perhaps you'll catch our reptillian friend on a sunnier day!

I admire your courage to get this close to a rhino - even with a telephoto which I assume you used - but the subject is very soft - I would like to see more detail on the "face", a littel more attention drawn to it.
  7. What is the subject of this photo? I assume its the tower - its not very well displayed by the photo, pvershadowed by the building up front. It is very difficult to get a good shot of a subject that large in an urban setting - but worth a try, perhaps using different lighting to accentuate? Just some ideas.

This may be a matter of personal preference (probably is) - but the DOF choice does not work for me. At this DOF I would choose a different crop - or alternately use a deeper DOF and leave crop as is.
  8. I'm not sure this is the category to show off this photo to the best adventage - its interesting on so many levels! This could be in the "vehicles", "news" - you name it! What can I say that the photo does not already say best - its a lovely capture, its vivid, it tells a story - a compelling one - its dramatic, its wonderful!

Thank you for the kind words - I do appreciate them! And thanks for looking past the "technology" - I know its limiting, but I reallywanted to share this image!
  9. This huge laker was truly an impressive sight going through that

little channel without the aid of a tug or anythig! Please let me

know what you think, as always, all comments welcome and

    appreciated! Thanks.

  10. I've driven the longest rigs legal on the North American continent - and this thing just frightens me! You Australians are crazy! Nice shot, too - really gives you a good idea of the size of this thing, and had nice, vivid colours, good DOF.
