  1. I like to extract personal significance out of the Mundane. My images attempt to represent

the Boundary between me and the Scene. They are not exactly about Me, but they are not

    about the Scene either.

    Am I succeeding?

The expressive power of the human body has been recognised by Artists since time

inmemorial. When Bodies converge with Light and Color ,Form takes on New Meanings.

Excellent photo, Claus . You cannot get any more Zen than this!

All the elements are there, the Yin and the Yang . All the Duality of the Universe. Hard and Soft , Feminine/Masculine , Soul and Matter , Light and Form ....Extremely symbolic and deep.

  2. I try hard to make my images speak purely in Visual terms and purposely avoid anything that might trigger a Verbal story . Instead I favor Nuances of Expression. If the message is focused, a few visual elements would do. IF IT IS PREGNANT WITH MEANING, LESS BECOMES MORE.

I seek to extract personal significance out of the mundane, this image is borderline. What do you think?

    Exellent title!

When we look at something, a stream of thoughts immediately gets started at the forefront of our awareness. At the same time almost subliminally, a, non-mental, bodily response to the Scene, arouses silently, creating a Feeling. This Feeling is like a reflection of the reality of the Scene, on the surface of our awareness, like in an Inner pond. Our incessant stream of thoughts creates disturbing ripples in it ,that shatter that reflection, corrupting it. Whatever is left of it becomes our vision. The key here is to provide enough abstraction as to avoid the generation of a Story and generate a Feeling instead.

Jana Vanourkova is already doing that .This image shows a Harmonious Balance of the Inner and the Outer, it shows exactly were Soul and Reality meet.

  3. Light and Color as a subject per se.

I like very much to emphasize Light itself as it draws forms and shapes, and I enjoy most when Light and Color manage to become my subject. It is hard however to capture them separate from Form. Unlike Black and White, which is all Form, I would want it to be all Color, without Form. Only Light can do that. Beauty is a Light in the Heart; no form or space is necessary. I dont like my images to become a visual way of telling a verbal story .Does this image, in your view, accomplish that?     If you liked it you can see more of them here

This photograph is extremely nice and seems to herald the emergence of Vision. However it is not consistent with the rest of your portfolio and it is perhaps, your best Image, in spite that it seems to have Just Happened and not to be what you do consistenly. Luis

Great Image David. It is charged with Meaning , which is the primary purpose of art. Yes Art . The image shows Vision, Purpose, Content and Craft and it is clearly Made ,not merely captured.

This image is consistent with the rest of your Portfolio and it is not just a “Lucky accident” . You do have the those qualities that I mention. In my book you are an “Image Maker”. Congratulations!

This is Black and White at its Best!!

Here we have somebody that not only has Vision but absolutely impeccable Craft . If art is a combination of Vision,Creativity , Message and Craft , this image certainly have most of that, plus exquisite timing and balance. This is one of those images that I would love to have taken it myself.    Luis

    Luscious light:

The Qualities of the Light ,softness ,direction ,Dinamic range Color and polarization are well

known , but every now and then we find qualities that escape this classifications. Would you

be amenable to agree that there is something like a Luscious Light?

Great Image George !! The Primary voice of this image is clearly carried out by Texture wich has been magnificently supported by exellent choices of focal lenght ,aperture, placement and Tonality. There is also a pervasive sensuality carried by soft Form delineation.Very enticing .Thanks for sharing it with us.

Another Great Image. It contains sufficient abstraction to stop the mind from introducing distracting thoughts and therefore allows the viewer to indulge in pure aesthetic responses to its content . This image clearly exemplifies what I discuss in my Biography page, as a Zen-like experience of transcending the mind through abstract imagery.
