1.
Can anyone tell me the symptoms of a printhead that is worn or has just given up the ghost.
In my case I have an Epson 2200 that literally began drooling ink during a head alignment which I performed due to vertical streaks of alternaing colors. An hour prior to that I was making choice prints on Ilford smooth perl paper.
Maybe I shunned the labs too soon.

  2. My response is not technical in any way. I solved my deplorable Canon focusing issues by unloading all my Canon gear Rebel XT, 20D, and a 40D and replacing them with used D70's. Most people do not have the opportunities to do extensive physical equipment comparisons.
  3. Canon sets the pace for reddish and unsharp images straight from the camera. This was in the case in my Rebel 350D and the 20D which I hoped would offer improved results.

Recently I have been supplied a Nikon D70 to use and it is tack sharp for a huge percentage of shots and does seem to have a tinge of blue. In Photoshop the images are way more forgiving to correct than the Canon images from Mars.

  4. I wish I had to worry about people wanting their images to the various extents mentioned above. In the Chicago market your lucky if the bride even shows interest in what you've shot.

Kari does make a good point about how bad your work might look if the end user goes to some crap processor for prints.

  5. My thought on this is that there are countless ways to charge someone with infringement.

If Johnny Photography cranks out a slide show with a few commercial songs to spice up his production and sells it to the bride. I think in the real world he is not the kind of guy they are looking for. Besides if you are playing whole songs end to end you are probably producing slow, boring, sub mediocre stuff anyway.

Carry a 2 mil umbrella policy for under a hundred bucks a year and if it happens you would would probably have enough to make it go

away. IF you were ruled against. Like they have Johnny under surveileance in his 2 bedroom ranch with his Taurus parked in the driveway for putting "The Girl from Ipanema" on his slide show.

Don't always play the entire song either.

  6. I might ad/ask wouldn't you set WB to flourescent as an option.

Raw isn't bad but if you get a properly metered shot and underexposed by about a third of a stop you should be okay. Then you wont ahve to convert.

I also agree strongly agree with Conrad about another flash and the histogram.

  7. Thanks everyone for the responses!

I have been to the church/chapel where the wedding is taking place, just not recently. I would like to work a structured symetrycal shot and let them mess around and have a fun free form posing session.

The wedding is Dec 30th so I dont anticipate outside opportunities. Global warming is great but not yet 100% reliable. I have the Alien Bee 800's if necessary so I can boost light with little concern.

I was hoping to get some suggestions on arranging the bodies.

  8. Do away with the icon thing all together. It induces a class structure. Class structure is inconsistent in a community where there is frequent and overt monitoring of opinion and suppression of visual expression.

Give a trophy to whoever has the most expensive, most quantity, and most prestigious name brand gear on P/N. Let that icon be a golden ox.
