hello
i just purchased a 50mm f/1.2 pentax-a lens and a k100d body
there are some reflections in my photos that occur when i have an uv filter in place
the problem: take a photo in a dark area, particularly when there is a bright light
source in the frame, the bright light source will be replicated on the opposite plane
similar to the examples in this link http://www.vanwalree.com/optics/filterflare.html
i have tried a nikon L39c and a B+W MRC UV, both exhibit this problem, green for
former and blue for later
i have never experienced this before when i was shooting film and my friend has
not experienced this before when shooting his nikon 50mm f/1.2 (no a noct-nikkor)
on a canon 40d
is this a phenomenon that happens with certain lens only? pentax body/sensor
problem?
can someone offer me a solution?? i would still like to place a filter on the front,
but if there is no choice, i will have to get a hood or something....
is this a common problem with this lens and camera combo??

could it be not a black and white film?
-
i acquired a roll of bulk film
i dont have fixer to test this, so i was wondering can someone give me a
ballpark on what this film is
the emulsion side is purple/pink, some-what metallic when light shines on it
i was thinking kodak tmax of some sort because i remember seeing a roll of tmax
3200 which was very purple
anyway i have posted a photo of the emulsion

in what way is the rangefinder restrictive for street photography?

thanks for your answers guys, i traded-in my mamiya 6x6 for a bessa L, i think i will trade it back during this week, and get the 35mm and bessa r
does anyone know of any galleries on the net, that have photos taken with the bessa and 35mm??
when i do street photography, i do use the minolta, but i wanted to try something different and smaller, also rf photography interested me when i first started shooting photos, but never had the chance to acquired any
maybe with the rf, people wont feel as weird when i take their photo and blend in more with the environment, please feel free to comment on this

hello
i am in the process of choosing a bessa L with the 21mm/4 skopar or the bessa R
with the 35mm/2.5 skopar
i have not used a leica-style rangefinder camera before, the closest would
probaly be a olympus mju ii, i have always used a manual focus minolta slr with
a 50mm f1.4
would it be better to start off with the 35mm to get accustomed to the
rangefinder feel, this would be closer to what i was shooting with the slr and
then add the 21mm or other wide angle later?
or just go straight for the 21mm and bessa L?
also, what is the low-light performance like on the mentioned lens? i like to
use iso 100 film, assuming the higher aperture numbers, i would need to use
higher iso film to compensate most of the time? what about under sunny
conditions/overcast??
sorry about all the questions, but thank you for your time
=)

this might be the same problem as me, as described in this thread:
http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00CADG
i think its a capacitor problem, cost me $60 AUD to fix

hey alex is there any scanning techniques/settings u use to get these results?
-
i was thinking what film u were using, because these are gorgeous scans, i could never get these colors with negative film, but slide film is ok
i see u were using provia 400, what scanner did u use? and also was the colors fixed in photoshop?
-
before i got my own film scanner, although not that great, it saved money, i found that the fuji frontier doesnt scan very well, i have found the agfa d-lab scans much better, giving better color and sharpness

just wondering do u have any samples and also how do u retrieve the film?

press 1600 is available in australia, but never seen it in superia rolls, press is generally sold refrigerated and in propacks wheres normal superia is sold as 3-packs in the supermarket
-
there is alot of velvia 50 left around stores in adelaide, australia in date, but 100 velvia seems to be a bit harder to find

hello, i just recently aquired a few rolls of bw film, seems like an
eastern euro one, but dont know which one, so quite confused on the
dev times, etc etc
first of all it comes in a white container, on the canister itself it
has a sticker for its branding, its orange and white with black text
all it says is 'CLASSIC FILM' CLASSIC-PAN 400 NEW
black & white negative film
400asa/27din
gives link to www.classicfilm.de
can someone give me a guide on dev times, or the where this film is
from or what can i find information on it
-
people say the lowest contract slide film is astia 100f, thats in the fuji range, i think kodak have they equivalant too e100g i think

hello
i will be going to hong kong on jan 17th, i was wondering what advice
people can give me regarding interesting places to take some photos,
what films i should use, etc...
i will bring an olympus mju II/stylus epic, and maybe a minolta manual
slr too, do people know if its possible to shoot slide with the olympus?
do you think it would be better to get a digital camera, like a fuji
f10 while i am there instead of shooting film?
also does anyone have information on processing in hong kong?

"very old roll film negatives could sometimes be viewed as positives by letting the light reflect off the emulsion side. emulsion side up and tilt the negative at angles so the light reflects and not much passes thru the negative. possibly because the old films were higher in silver than newer films."
this can be done using films like adox chm 125 pro, which is the same as ilford fp4+
-
i just brought a primefilm 3600u and i was wondering whats the best
way to achieve a nice scan, my scan of my slides seems to be dark, or
the colours off

the superia range of films is the amatur version of the press range of films, press has usually been cold stored and is more consistant, it has higher contrast compared to the np series of films, the np series is more for portraits and weddings, and the 800 press is still around not discontinued
also reala is different to superia 100, its more fine grain and sharper and better~~, but i think it has lower contrast too
-
damn, sad to hear it has closed down.....i think some guy just brought 4-5 pro packs of scala from james place in adelaide....gonna have to send overseas
-
nph/pro 400h has nice fine grain

what is a good price for an user xpan??
in Medium Format
Posted
hello
i have found a xpan for 1500aud (australian dollars) with the 45mm lens, about 1421 usd
its obviously an user, there is missing paint around various areas of the body...is 1500aud a good price?? and is
there anything i should be looking out for?
what if its a xpan 1 or 2? does it present itself as good value?
can someone give me some experience with using the xpan and framing for street photography?
