I mean projector lenses, of course.
-
Thats why Leica sells lenses that accommodate for that curvature; can't remember what they are called.

I found the people at Tamarkin's in New york very friendly, helpful, and- most importantly- patient, as I ogled, licked my lips, and fondled some very nice equipment. That kind of behavior would have had me thrown out of B&H.
I finally bought an Elmarit 135/2.8 lens, which had a faulty base, and which they happily exchanged for a good one. As in the past, I was very impressed, and can see why they are the largest Leica dealer in the World (I believe).

Sorry to hear about the RF Patch issue. Unfortunately, I'm too familiar with it as you can see-

and here-

I plan to send it to CRR Luton (UK), am praying it will all be less than $400.
Hope this helps...

Beautiful. Every time I try to tell myself that Digital does not quite render as well as film, I come across something like this. I guess its unavoidable- there will have to be a Leica digital M8 (or later) in my future.

Joseph, don't quite buy the "pigment depletion" and the "distorts the eye" issues, as most people don't do the one-eyed shooting for any great duration, compared to using both eyes the vast majority of their waking hours. Can't imagine its enough to cause any permanent changes to the eye.
OTOH, I agree with the "clean break" theory, except, a I said in my note- the 1:1 finder situation is best as there is no "learning curve" involved.
-
William, I think it is more convenient to shoot M type cameras using the right eye, because the viewfinder is towards the left side of the body, but in an SLR its in the middle.
Interestingly. I love to shoot with both eyes open but the image size difference is disorienting. It is best with a 1:1 finder, such as the Canon P and IIs2. It seems difficult, even with a .85 M6 , or M3. Maybe, its because I'm Left eye dominant.
The problem with an SLR for me, where the viewfinder is in the middle of the body, is that wearing glasses just adds one more challenge.Be curious to know what most people have worked out.

Is 6 months not long enough? Perhaps I don't demand enough from my batteries.

Came across this beautiful collection of images; something for everyone, I think...

I have the Leica M, and the Contax SLR systems. Wonder if this might be a good
idea ? I already have several C/Y Prime lens, and would consider getting the
Digilux-3 and an adapter. And, yes, I am aware of the different "experience" of
a DSLR, rather than an Rangefinder. For shorter focal lengths, and given the OIS
in the Digilux, will the pictures be comparable to using an M8 ?
-
It looks like a 35/2 Aspheric Summicron. Am I right ?
-
Very nice. Wonderfully sharp and well exposed. These Rangefinders are amazing ! I own a Oly 35SP, and am inspired by your posting to go and shoot today. Maybe post some of my own tonite ?

And, I'm impressed and very envious of these candid pics- how you were able to frame/focus/adjust etc. so carefully, without the subjects apparently catching on and ruining everything.
-
Very nice indeed. And the usual question- Digital or film ?
-
Very nice. Would love to try it.

Probably a Leica M8 version 1.1

M6 Chrome (Classic), with GMP grip, 35/2 Asph. & Ilford XP2 Super

Steve, I too, can vouch for DAG's work. I had a IVsb repaired by them- excellent CLA and curtain replacement in aboout 10 days for about $210 (I don't remember exactly); nice people, and very competent.

Nice pictures. A bit oversharpened looking, though...

Absolutely Gorgeous!

Sorry, just copy and paste the URL.

The copy almost more intersting than the original...

Unfortunately, like some of the others, I get several a week. Despite attempts at being vigilant, my fear is that sheer fatigue may cause me to become lax, and let one of these slip through. I do get (an automated) response from PayPal regarding these complaints, but not much else.

Hi Alan,
At the risk of saying something really silly, let me disagree with you about something fundamental. (I think I'm fairly certain of this...I think).
Your note says "open up by 1.5 stops" which is correct, but the rest is muddled. Going to 1/250 of a second IS opening up. but going to F4 is not (Its closing down).
Since meters read the light and report 'what settings are needed to turn the subject medium gray'- and the correct color of your palm is whiter/lighter, you DO want to give it more light (and make the palm appear its whiter/lighter)- you do this by opening up. It took me some time (oh, 15-20 years) to understand this since it is counterintuitive, I think. Once is instinctively inclined to try and 'Reduce the amount of light' for brighter subjects, but this, of course will turn them dark in the pictures. Hope this helps...
