1.
Nice find Alex. I recently picked up an EL as well. Mine has some brassing around the lug straps, but is otherwise pretty tidy itself. It is actually the ELW version that is fitted for a motor drive. As soon as I finish the first roll in my F2, the EL is next in line.

Rick H- The Nikomats were the same as the Nikkormats, just not for export. I forget the reason behind the name change.

 3.
I have a 645 1000s and I seem to remember it behaving the same way without any film in it. Unfortunately I'm halfway through a roll right now and cant verify that.

 4.
I got some severe vignetting with a 28mm lens using a CPL on a step up ring with a hood (no UV filter), so I would definitely watch out for this. If you are using a camera without a 100% viewfinder, it may not be visible in the viewfinder. It wasn't visible in the viewfinder in this shot (the vignetting was the same on both sides on the negative, but the scanner chopped off the left side of the image).

 5.
Thanks Patrick. I was really impressed with how un-ugly the lenses were. One lens had some engraving on it, and that was pretty much it cosmetically, other than a few small scratches here and there that you had to look for in order to see. Optically, only the Tokina from the first picture above had any issues. The elements were hazy and there were a few small spots of fungus. I took it apart and cleaned the fungus and most of the haze out. Sort of a learning project, since I'd never taken a zoom apart.

 6.
Shot my first Canon the other day. I bought a bunch of UG grade lenses from KEH back in the fall, for some insanely low prices. So low, in fact, that I couldn't resist buying three FD mount lenses even though I had no FD body to mount them on at the time. An FTb from eBay solved that problem. Here's a few shots from the test roll (sorry, no brick walls).

Tokina RMC 80-200 f4.
-

Vivitar RL Edition 28-80 f3.5-4.5
-

Vivitar 28/2.8 Close Focus
-
The total cost for all threes lenses was $4.18. The cost of processing the roll of film at Wallgreens was $5.30.
