...make money?

Just looked at some P80 samples - surprisingly noisy, was my first thought.
-
DN - that did it!
-
Thnx again 4 all da tips
-
Which countries?
-
Well, I always run a test where I crop the image then reduce it to the size I intend to finish up with and then see if any noise is visible. If it is, I'll start over full size and selectively de-noise where necessary after I've done adjustments - some make the noise worse. Even then, sometimes I just use the 'Blur' tool locally. I am finding that the noise filters in Olympus Studio 2 are work really well. However, they can only be applied to the whole image. I only shoot raw.

Thanks, everyone. Michael, there must be 500 lines: Which one might it be?
-
Thanks, but none of those options do it.

The 'Save' option is inactive when Photoshop thinks you haven't changed anything: It thinks you haven't blurred anything. Why, I don't know. Try, 'Save as'?

How can I persuade Firefox 3 to automatically make a new tab if I open a Favourite or Search? Thanks

Thanks for your empathy, Patrick.

Er...maybe I just caught the strap over the lip of the lens hood as I turned the camera on its side?

Hi. I've made a folder in my portfolio called 'Black Smudge.' In it, I've pot a foto with a black mark in the top
right corner. The camera is a new E520. The mark only appears with camera 'sideways' and not in every shot. What
could be causing this? Maybe a faulty compact flash card or maybe the computer? Or...gulp...something wrong with
the lens or camera?
Thanks

Well, I hear you, Greg, yet the double click does open a raw image and the software proceeds to convert it before I've done anything in the same way as if I've used the raw converter alone.
-
If I double click on an .orf file, it is opened in an editing window which has two tabs, one for raw, and one for
edit functions. If I click on the raw button at the top of the screen the image opens in an edit window which
only has the raw controls. Why are there two methods? What's the difference?

Thanks, Ellis

Hi. If a raw converter converts to 16bit, can it retain exif? In my limited travels around different software, it
seems not. If it can't, why not? If it can, which converters do so?

Interesting answers. Well, that's the point really, Ton - I'm 56 and while I still only need reading glasses, my eyes do seem to have had enough by early evening. Thanks for the tip - I'll get them checked.

I've taken to
wearing UV filter
sunglasses and
taking a food
supplement
containing Lutein -
which seems to keep
my eyes from going
dry and blurry
particularly in the
evening. It also
noticeably sharpens
my vision.
So, I was wondering
if anyone had any
tips for eye care?

Well, I've just traded up from the E400 - and that jump is worth it.
-
I have an E400, I rarely print and usually shrink images to 1,000 to 1,200. I've
been looking at samples from the E520 and have shrunk them down to my typical
size range. I can't see any substantial difference. Has anyone noticed better
image quality and if so when is it evident?
Olympus Studio 2 - Apply settings?

Hi. I open a raw file and the conversion goes ahead. Then I might alter say, the sharpness level, and it
automatically reconverts the image: Sure enough, it looks sharper or softer. So, what does 'Apply settings' do?
