To learn how to measure flash and ambient light, you may want to download the manual for the Gossen Luna-Pro F here:

The Gossen LunaPro F will measure flash and ambient light.

Kris,
Do you mind if I tag-along your thread. I have one of those Leitz flash units to give away also.
It is the same as your picture, has the bottom shoe, but not the horizontal bar. I will ship Con-US free to the first PM.
Jack in New Mexico

Check to see that the AF Assist Illuminator is coming on. (Page 210 in the manual). I have mine set ON.
Then when using any or all of the three options for Remote Mode (Page 80 in the manual) the AF Assist Illuminator comes on, and focus is achieved for taking the picture. I just tested this and it works with my D7000 and ML-L3.

I have the instruction manuals for the Beseler 23c and the 23c2XL on PDF files. If you would like me to email a copy (or copies) to you, send me an IM with your email address.

Thanks, Marc!
It brings back those memories, when I was a press photographer in 1953-54. ...and got married in December 1953. We just celebrated 60 years together! So, we, too are vintage sweethearts.
I still have a Crown Graphic and Omega D2 enlarger, which get occasional use!
Jack

I have an N80 in near mint condition. It has the same internal viewfinder reflection as the one you show.
It is simply a reflection within the viewfinder, seldom noticed, and does not affect the image on the film. Use the N80 well.

I have a 120 6X45 back for the SQ. The back is labelled SQ 6X45.
The insert is labelled 120J.
The mask is behind the dark slide.
I believe the insert you want should be labelled 220J.
Put a scrap roll of film in it and see how far it counts.

Another way I sometimes scan a srip of negatives (for example a strip with four or more images on it) - I will frame and scan the entire strip. Then when viewing the strip in Photoshop, I will crop and save one image at a time. It is a bit time consuming; but I believe it is better than framing and scanning one image at a time.

Mark,
The answer for many is to develop the negatives yourself and then scan. I do that.
Check your email for some equipment coming your way.

Ditto what Devon said. Equipment failure or any other misstep could make an unsatisfactory result for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Get skill and equipment practice on repeatable occasions.

I tried this using the G lenses from my D7000 on my N80, knowing they would vignette. When on my N80 I was able to set the aperture, exposure and autofocus. So, they work for me. I do not have a full-frame G lens. But the G lenses for my D7000 seem to work well.

Also, the Bronica SQ series (SQ, SQA and SQAm) 6x6 cameras have 645 backs available.
There are also 35mm backs for the SQ series - but not common.

I would try the routine again. First to format the memory card in the camera. Then download the update to the card from the computer onto the card. Then insert the card in the camera and go to the setup menu "Firmware Version". You likely have done this already. If so, and the second try doesn't work, I don't know the answer.

So, if Nikon is not consistent with update notifications, then it can be helpful for us to post notices here on PN. At least those of us who frequent PN may benefit thereby. Glad I found it today!

Good points! The update memo is dated 04/02/13. I am a registered owner of a D7000 and did not receive a notice from Nikon of the update. I stumbled on the update by chance. :(

I have been getting tired about the seeming endless debate on this thread about what to include, or what not to include, in recording a dying persons final times. ...whether someone's views may be appropriate for others or not - and mentioning what body parts to illustrate in suffering. Yes the message gets told that way.
As I mentioned way back on page one of this thread, my mother and sister both succumbed to cancer, and this series was a difficult one for me to view, bringing back 20+ year old memories.
When it was found my family was struck with cancer, I resolved to record photographically those happy moments we shared. Every time we got together, I had my camera along. We have a nice collection of snapshots of us having fun together, enjoying life, celebrating meals together, and some unforgettable trips.
So, I would rather remember the good times we enjoy, through those photos, rather than dwell on the sad times, even though they are there. I am 80 now, and have "dodged a bullet" when pre-cancerous parts have been removed. I am still healthy and enjoy the blessings of continued cancer-free days. I record our healthy times, and try to illustrate them in my stack of family photos, along with other photo challenges that illustrate good life.

Just my thoughts.

Gossen Luna-Pro S problem?
in Lighting Equipment
Posted

Richard,
I have a Luna-Pro F. It has similar function scales as the S model. When I push the tab to move the compensation pointer dial, as you illustrated, a plate moves behind the f/stop plate. The plate that moves has the "TIME" scale, the EV Number Scale, and the Cine Scale. All of these (including the little pointer for the Zone number scale) should move when you move the compensation ring off its "Home" (red mark) position. If that plate having the shutter speeds and EV numbers doesn't move when you move the ring, I suspect a link may be broken.
That is how my Luna-Pro F works.
