  1. I'm planning a trip to Papua New Guinea & New Zealand. I've already decided to leave the digital slr's at

home (5D & Mark 3). Mainly because it will allow me to cut the belly cord to my laptop, charging batteries

    etc. I'm bringing a pentax 67 II with a 55, 135maco, and a 200. Also bringing a leica MP with a few lenses.

I'll be taking portraits, details and landscapes. I was planning on taking fuji 160 and 400 color negative

and some trix. Friends have suggested transparency film. I plan to send the film to Richard's Lab for

proofs and low res scans. I'll be scanning with a nikon 9000 and printing the keepers on an epson 4800.

    Any comments out there ?

    Thanks--

  2. The bike is a Turner made here in Murrieta. I rode up to the towers in La Cresta on a single

track. I carry my M8 with 15/28/ and 90 lenses in a little padded camera bag which in turn is

inside one of the larger camel back backpacks. I also carry a mini tripod. That's the whole

advantage of the M system-- small and lightweight. Never could do that with a Mark 3 and

    70-200 etc.

  3. Bill,

I tried XP2 once and didn't seem to like the tones as much as Tri-x. I think I'll try some more rolls. I've done some playing around with converting my canon 5D files to B& W, but it just isn't as satisfying as Tri-x (especially with a red or orange filter) straight out of a wide open Leica/M lens.<div>00HihK-31847684.jpg.0263313916e45b2e79167dfce3489836.jpg</div>

  4. Here are some kids from the Village near Dive Kadavu Resort in Fiji. I sure

wish digital ice would work on Tri-X, I spend a lot of time healing out the

scratches and specs after scanning. By the way the Nikon 9000 does a fabulous

job. I had a well respected lab in Hollywood make some wet prints and I like

the ones I made scanned with the Nikon and printed with Epson 4800 on

Hanamuhle paper better (more shadow detail).<div>00Hid4-31846284.jpg.b365eddbbae1e4c04417b498cf7d271c.jpg</div>
