  1. After a lovely day in the sun over here in t'north, I ventured to one

of my coachs' homes as he had something to show me. Out comes this

small suitcase sized object which he tells me is a 1/4 plate box

camera called a Kelto. Focusing is done by turning this knob on the

side and the whole front of the box moves forward to reveal bellows.

The aperture control is on the front and if you get it right you can

play a tune [possibly] as you focus! Film is carried in holders

inside, held in place by a large bed-spring. The holders fall to the

floor of the box as they are exposed.

It's amazing thing and I am looking to borrow it for a feww days to

run some film through it. The only thing is, I don't know what size

quarter plate is in real money. Any ideas please?

Below are a couple of pics ofthe beast.<div>00C2zY-23245784.jpg.0c7f015a1673bb730f39f2cdf6c0bb8d.jpg</div>

  2. Feeling a bit better after a stroll out in the next valley a couple

of furlongs from home with the Ensign 2 1/4 Box. Amazes me what you

can get out of these things and makes me want to work with these

alone ! Anyway, Malcom, my cycle coach chum [whose birthday it was]

and I took a stroll out and came back with a couple of piccis - Malc

from one of those new-fangled all-singing and dancing pixelated

things and me with my Box.

    Here are two i quite like;

Both Tmax 100 [out of date] twirled in Rodinal 1;75 for

my "goodness , it that the time already" type of development.<div>00C2R0-23227884.jpg.e80306ee5d913a8e24a2679b8187b993.jpg</div>

  3. Phew! Just back from the race meet and now exhausted - which is good in that I have decided not to upload another pictuure from this first roll because i don't think it is up to standard and I am not proud of it. I will try again and have something better and more interesting to show you another day. I don't want to bore you with yet another picutre of the park or something. This is such a wonderful forum and I want to do all I can to keep it that way - and I like reading your posts rather than posting mine !
  4. Two images, one in progress as it were, from the second of the skip

finds that were given to me. Back fell off while I was loading Tmax

pro 100 [out of date] so I gaffer taped it! This camera is a bit

techincal for me since it has three apertures plus T and I on the

shutter thing. Anyway, snook out from Velodrome via the Park.

Developed in Rodinal - stand 1;70 - time; "OMGoodness, I've forgotten

    the film".<div>00C1TA-23189584.jpg.57a6fd84f4a88de89951c56c6865b06c.jpg</div>

  5. I am extremely lucky living, as I do in a row of 5 houses overlooking

the wonderful hills that edge the Peak District. My neighbour

recently gave me 4 cameras that he had rescued out of a skip [a

rubbish receptacle, in case it?s differently nomenclatured

elsewhere]. One was this Ensign Blue Box camera all covered in dust

and grime of countless years of neglect. So, not wanting to

disappoint my neighbour, I purchased a roll of Efke 100 127 film

since E29 is no longer made, and loaded. [The film is a tad narrower

but Okish]. There was a little problem, once I cleaned off the dust,

in that something was rattling inside the box although I couldn?t see

what it was. Must be in the shutter housing but since it seemed to

work Ok I thought I would give it a go. The viewers are all clouded

    too!

I live in England so it rains a lot. I took Ensign to work but since

the lighting at the Velodrome is so terrible, I snook out away from

the Olympic and world champions flying round the track in search of

more speed and went into Phillips Park that runs adjacent. This park

is the first public park in the UK [i think] and as the sun was

shining for a moment, I aimed Ensign [such a wonderful name don?t you

think?], shoved a yellow filter over the front to cope with the light

    values and took this picture.

I finished the roll off here and at home, sloshed it round in Rodnial

1:50 and scanned his quickly this morning, just before my medidation

    and rush to work.

I think it?s lovely coming from a 1930s box camera with a single

    meniscus lens. What do you think? Yes, slight overlapping of frames;

    sorry!<div>00C0lK-23161284.jpg.5dac390e52f486a99954bda218f3f5bc.jpg</div>
