  1. Lauren, another good place to learn photoshop is the Digital Wedding Forum. There are thousands of exceptional wedding photographers there who are very open and willing to help in any way: www.dwf.com.

Another great place to learn photoshop skills is through Photoshop Mama http://photoshopmama.net. You can also find tons of videos on photoshop that walks you through how to do batching, color correction and other stuff found here: http://shop.photoshopvideos.com

    I hope these help :)

  2. The bride wants 6 hours of time and the ceremony and reception will take place in the Crystal Garden at 6:00 p.m. so I'm a little unsure if I can totaly use available light. I can shoot low but have a feeling my back will be KILLING me by the time I leave that place. I appreciate the posts and welcome everyone else to post as well. Thanks for the links guys.
  3. I have a bridal show coming up in January and this is my first time

having a table at one, so does anyone here have pictures of how

they've set up their tables or can explain what they've done? I'm

just wanting to get some ideas to work with to figure my setup for

    next year. Thanks everyone.

  4. Tammy, I do know that you need to obtain a Privilege License to be a photographer in North Carolina but my understanding about a business license (and I could be wrong) is that you only need to obtain that if you have a studio. I'm still doing reshearch on the business license issue because I don't have a studio myself. I did go ahead and obtain the privilege license. Here are a few links to help you out.

  5. Steve, I joined the PPNC in my local area as a learning tool but in a recent newsletter that was sent to me, it appears a standardized test is in the works.
  6. I'm a huge fan of Yervant's images and one in particular. I know

his image didn't come out of the camera this spectacular, so can

anyone tell me how to get the look of his image on this site

    www.mastersofweddingphotography.com? It's the first image.

  7. Yeah, I've got a Canon 20D (still learning to use it properly), the lens kit, 50 1.8, 70-200 4.0L, and Tamron 28-75 2.8 lens. I usually use the Tamron for the wedding and on occasion have used the 50 1.8 when it's low light. I guess I can just pop on the 50 mm and pray for the best. I don't have a light meter, just what's in my camera. Would you shoot manual or AV?

Oh, and my husband is going to be kind enough to be the umbrella man for me. i'm worried about my equipment getting wet.

  8. Hi all, I have a wedding today at 5:30 p.m. which is an outside

wedding. The bride and groom didn't even think about rain so they

don't have a backup plan. What can I do in order to obtain decent

lighting in the rain and clouds? Any suggestions on metering,

exposure, and flash is much appreciated?

  9. David, you can get a spiral bound proofbook that can hold as many as you want under $100. It's a digital proofbook that you can order from digi-labs. I just printed off a magazine style proofbook with around 150 pictures for less than $50.

    Check them out at www.digi-labs.com

  10. What brand lights do you guys use in the studio for bridal

portraits? I have been shooting outdoor bridal portraits but have

been asked lately by several brides about indoor sessions. I have a

place to shoot indoors but no lighting equipment. Can anyone lead

me in the right direction as far as what I should get? I've heard

Norman, Bowens, JLT, and Photogenic are some of the better ones.

    Thanks!

  11. Bob, you can also try www.digilabs.com as they provide online ordering as well as a digital proofbook. They also have a 1 month free trial period just to see if you like what they have to offer. They offer discounts during the 1 month trial period to include 15% off your first proofbook, and a % off of cards, calenders, etc. I ordered my first proofbook, got it back in just days, showed it to the bride and she just loved it and said she liked the feel and magazine style format. I also showed it to a client on Saturday and she wanted to know if she could have the proofbook instead of an album.

You may want to give them a try. Good luck!

  12. I ordered a proofbook from digilabs on Wednesday, got it on Friday, love it then showed it to a bride and groom for an appointment I had today and they (mainly bride) just ranted and raved over it and booked me because of it. In addition to the package they booked for, they want to order 2 proofbooks as albums to give to their mothers.
