Thanks Guys.
Essex may be flat but like Marks says, at Dawn and dusk it competes with most places.
Merry Christmas

Hi Mark,
You have brought to life a fairly day to day scene on the east coast, congratulations. The yellow of the skiff in the foreground absolutely enhances this scene. If I would do anything different it would be to crop the bottom of the frame tighter to the skiff just to accentuate the rule of thirds slightly.

Hi Gunn,
Thanks for stopping by, yes it is indeed Heybridge near Maldon Essex. I live about 8 miles east of there on the mouth of the Blackwater estuary.

Don,
Nice find!!! Love the composition of the left and right hand shots. The light striking the surfaces here is exceptional. If I could critisise at all it would be that the vertical timbers on the center shot are slightly over exposed losing some of the detail on my monitor.

Don,
I took this shot because I thought it might be a nice place to live, water ,rural , yet still in the center of a thriving village. Yes the sky has been desaturised in PS and the remainder of the image subjected to sat ,hue and levels. This is a technique bought to my attention by Mark Wakefield who has a space on PN . Check him out he is a great artist.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Martin,
The way I set my monitor is this:-
First I set the monitor brightness /contrast etc by working through the windows set up wizard. I then set an image I have shot as the wallpaper.
As a check I then make a print of the same image and compare the brightness /contrast/colour temperature with that on the monitor.(obviously if you have problems with your printer colours this will not work)make any small adjustments, hopefully you should now be veiwing exactly what your camera sees. If others viewing your images have their monitors set differently (too bright /too dark)they will not see what you see and there is nothing you can do about that!
I would say that the overall exposure of this image on my monitor is ok considering the sky to background ratio. The detail lost on the body of the animal can be dodged in on PS.
Regards
Tony.
P.S I assume you have your monitor colour reference point set to the same as that you shoot in ie sRGB or Adobe etc.

Hi Fabien,
This is an excellent capture , love the DOF. The mountains in the background compliment the overall compositon. I too have been shooting a series of ''lonely trees '' here in the UK which I hope to post soon.Keep up the good work. Tony

Mark,
Thanks again for the comments. This shot is slightly darker(more saturated )I assume as I am now shooting dead west(evident by the position of the moon)Who says the east coast is dull eh? Yes the horizon, when will I ever learn? My excuse? ,its the excitement of getting the shot ready for photo net, I forget the basics lol!!!
Cheers and best of luck.
