Family time, one very important thing that people can afford less and

less these days... Please let me know what you think, rate and

Absolutely stunning portrait, not only of this particular child but of the childhood itself. Great composition, detail and color. definitely reminding of Saudek. Congrats. 7/7

    - fugazi -

Same here, I like each picture for what it shows but don't seam to find the connection. I'm looking at the title and found fugazi=

"Fouled Up, Got Ambushed, Zipped In (British military slang)". Hm, I can understand the dark mood on a rainy day but I was also hoping for the author to step in and give us a hand.

  1. Some people like to see fluid water, use water for swimming or boating, that is all nice and postcards actually capture this kind of water that we all know. What Jeff does here is introducing time as an element of composition. His long exposures give new meanings and texture to such elements as water. This is called an artistic vision. Thank you Jeff for sharing your vision with us. This image is as close to perfection as one can get. 7/7

Thank you all for your nice comments. I wanted to capture this special light and show the flower glowing from within. I hope I managed to do that. cheers

As some one said, very few photographers think of TIME as an element of composition. This is what I like about this picture, it goes beyond graphics, time melts all the power and energy making the surface of the water silky yet dangerously calm. Thanks for sharing, you have good photographic vision.

I would have probably framed this vertically but other than that excellent composition, leaving room for multiple interpretations and meditation.

I wish I would have been there to take this shot. Congratulations

I admire your esthetic choices and this very delicate frozen piece of universe is no exception. Excellent texture, tones and composition. 7/ 6

    I had a dream

Well, dreams suppose to be strange don't they. I had no intention to reproduce the reality but to put a vision into my image. Sorry for dissapointing you...
  2. While I understand the motivation behind your decision to compose like this my brain cannot take this in. I'm not sure whether it's just me or the way images are generally perceived. People can operate with symbols and abstract ideas but you need more to make this acceptable. The only suggestion I can come up with is go there on a really windy day (I don't see here the wind suggested in the title...) and compose the same way but wait for few really big waves. The imbalance of the water can create a logical sensation of the element flowing towards the horizon due to gravity instead of moving to the shores. Happy shooting

Awesome shot and darkroom work, thanks for sharing. I'm curious to know at what point in the process have you converted the image(s) to B/W; I assume this decision plays a role in the final output. cheers,

I'm glad that PN brought this image to the front page. You managed to create an ethereal atmosphere by using available light, reflections and composition. It is a picture and a metaphor at the same time. Congratulations, 7/7

Kudos to you Tomas for capturing such an unique moment. As Marek said it seams you choose the right position and timing to take this photograph. well done, congratulations and thanks for sharing. 7/7
  3. I like the way you choose to break the energy of moving water by the use of long exposure time thus unveiling the rocks with great precision and detail. Balanced composition and subtle light. Good work. 6/6
