  1. I have been battling this dilemma in my mind ever since the

announcement of the D200. I have shot film for over 25 years,

primarily underwater, and now want to venture into the digital age,

    although not marinelife any longer.

I have a large selection of Nikkor lenses, both AF and manual which

could be utilized by either body. With the drastic drop in D70s

prices, is it really worth the extra money for the D200 or will I be

just as happy with the D70s? Print size would rarely exceed 16x20,

more likely 11x14. Primary subject matter would be landscapes and

portraits, as well as hockey shots of my 2 boys.

Thanks in advance for your contributions,

    Glenn

  2. Thank you to all that responded. I am very grateful to every response posted following my question. As always, this is an excellent forum which provides detailed and honest feedback from a variety of talented and knowledgable individuals.

I believe I will be sticking with film for his first camera and have pretty much decided on either an FE or FM. I personally started with a Kodak Retina Reflex myself, passed on by my father...sure wish I still had that camera to pass onto him. I was able to pick up an N65 used, but it has limited manual capabilities, although it is very light and compact.

    Again, thanks everyone!

  3. My 11 year old son is exprpessing an interest in photography. I

would like to have him begin with a completely manual camera to

better understand the functions and techniques of photography. I

have numerous Nikon lenses from my own arsenal that he would be able

to use, so my question is...what would be one of the better manual

models Nikon has produced. Obviously it would probably be an

earlier model, but that is fine.

Thanks in advance for all your contributions and advice.

  4. By all means you can use those lenses. Keep in mind the 1.5 crop factor due to the small sensor size of the D70, as with all Nikon DSLR's. Your 28-105mm will become more effectively a 42-158mm and the 50mm will be more of a 75mm.

Enjoy your journey into the digital world.

  5. I am relatively new to digital imaging and was wondering which is a

better program...paintshop pro or photoshop elements? Any insight

would help. I've been shooting images for over 25 years and only

recently converted to digital with a D100. I need the program for

basic and advanced techniques for photography only, no need for

illustration or web, that's why I don't need CS.

Thanks in advance for your help.
