  1. Hi Hin,

If you believe in democracy (majority opinion), then go with the FA 35mm. The verdict is exactly the same in the other forum as well.

So here is what you can do - 1) buy FA35mm, 2) use it and report about it in your blog, 3) then there will be another new lens from Pentax, 4) your LBA strikes again, 5) you sell your FA 35mm cheaply to me. I guarantee that I will be your next best acquisition partner !

    Its a great plan. :-)

  2. Hi to all...........

I was interested in using my laptop tethered to my camera and review the shots instantly. I found a discussion about

Pentax remote assistant in the other forum. So I played with it a little bit.

I used "separate screen display" option in view. The view is on the opening screen of remote assistant v3. That gave

a screen of approx 5X4 inches size on my laptop screen which was as big as a LF viewfinder. This was much better

option than to review my shots on the camera LCD. Also I could change any setting on the camera and fire the

camera from my laptop. I felt like I was a true pro :-)

Just wanted to share this with you guys.

  3. This is my POW contribution. Went to the park with one of our dogs on Thanksgiving day and took few quick shots.

Then stiched with Hugin. The shots were taken with a K10D.<div>00Rebu-93661584.jpg.89ea9b3320b80120bdf7e9ca3f486d0a.jpg</div>

  4. Hi Fellow Pentaxians,

I am planning to purchase a couple of new lenses. The live.com cashback is showing 30% discount. I have never

used it. So I have three questions.

How does it work? I can buy an item through live.com, ebay and the amount of cashback is shown during checkout /

buy on ebay page. So do I pay the full amount through paypal and then the discount amount is deposited in my

cashback account? Or I pay the discounted amount during checkout? The second question is how do I transfer the

cashback amount (if this gets deposited as the rebate amount after a purchase) to my bank account or credit card

account? I do not want money sitting in a cashback account. The final question is can I combine ebay 10% coupon

    with this cashback?

I have created live and cashback accounts already. I hope some of you used these services in the recent past and

would like to help me understand the system. Thanks a lot.

  5. I am in a similar situation too like Trevor. Let me explain. Which one should I choose? DA 16-45 f4 or Tamron 17-50 f2.8. Tamy is one stop faster. I am also very inclined towards DA 21 limited because of its excellent quality. However, a zoom can be handy specially shooting people/events. And then there is DA 16-50 f2.8 with a bigger price tag. Please help.
  6. I see it this way. If Pentax line dies, all my Pentax goodies become vintage status collectible items that are rarely

available stuff on the open market. In that case, I will be able to sale a Pentax glass for 10X the price to Prince of

Monaco :-) I will start an auction site for the royals with a big fat purse :-))

And I agree completely that someone else will pick up the K mount line. I am a business student. So let me tell you

one thing. We have heard about all these analysis/predictions many times in the past. The important thing is how

    many of those actually matched.

Lets start a scoring system for these analysts and experts. Seriously .

  7. Hey Tom,

Great shots of the screw driver. What is the background? It nicely complements the main subject. May be I will try to

do some still life one of these days. I am inspired by you. So thank you :-)

  8. Hi Pentaxians,

Greetings. One of my good friends is facing a problem. He bought a K100D. He can not download the software to his

MAC notebook. So, he is fustrated because he could not work on the files. He wants to do batch conversion of PEF

files to TIFF. I use a PC. I showed him how to do that in Pentax browser and Pentax laboratory. He was able to

download the Pentax program in his office PC desktop. However, its an office computer and obviously it is not

advisable to use it for that. I also use Adobe bridge. I do not know how to do a batch conversion to TIFF using Bridge.

Usually I work on single files. I open it with Bridge, do initial corrections in Bridge, then go to CS3, do more

corrections in CS3 and finally save as TIFF or DNG in CS3. My questions are - 1) Does Pentax has a MAC specific

version of its software? How can my friend get it? 2) Is there a way to batch convert pentax files to TIFF in Adobe

    Bridge?

    Thanks and best.
