  1. Slightly different colour temperature, but a very wise choice! Might be spikeless holly too.. 🙂 Love the pictures. 👍
  2. I've noticed a couple of these appearing at almost reasonable prices 2nd hand. Anyone got one? Last of the F mounts, now a heavy dinosaur? Asking for a friend... 🤣
  3. Not sure of it's current $ value, but If you've got a good friend/relative who would benefit from a loaner, who couldn't normally afford a Z8, with the knowledge it might fail at any time, I'd go down that route. I'd guess if it didn't die in 6 months of use, it's going to live a lot longer.
  4. I'd reckon the camera is sealed just fine. However, a rock has smashed a hole in the top 'hump' exposing a PCB. Even submarines aren't happy hitting rocks......🤣
  5. 'mostly works'... So, after sensor cleaning it takes pictures OK? I wonder what Nikon wanted to repair? (apart from the top LCD) The back one is OK? What's a new one cost to you where you are? Grey Z8's are £2950 in UK. If it was an older body with a very high voltage capacitor for a pop-up flash, and it go wet, I'm not sure I'd want to use it. Errr, how did the hotshoe spring clip come off? Did the camera hit/catch something on the way down?
  6. I guess it's the same with you, but it's the tax-collecting 'fees' of the delivery company that are outrageous if you cannot pay the tax at source. Like TAX £25, FEES £100... 😱
  7. ...and when he went back to Germany, he becomes the importer and pays TAX, no? 😉
  8. What's the AF/AF-D/AF-I/AF-S split like? I usually managed OK on the newer lenses with Auto AF fine tune where the body compares LV focus with conventional AF. Some of the earlier (old!) AF lenses seems pretty random, particularly badly effected were the one 'spot' correction with slow zooms.
  9. So, i guess they may have that big pre-order list across all of America, and err, elsewhere? Canada maybe?
  10. Nikon Z8 + Z100-400mm +ZTC1.4 @ 560mm. 1/1600 f8 ISO 1000. Crow + Walnut.
  11. Very Sad. There's a similar ideology of wilderness 'tidying' here in the UK. Very depressing. We don't have much wild, but the powers-that-be want to tidy it up and make it neater. Drives me bonkers!
  12. Hummm, move the house and the tree falls 😱 Seems like a perfect symbiotic arrangement.... let them both be. 🙂
  13. Nah, more like a resting tree after a bit too much rum! One of those great scenes that might work in B/W depending on the red/green contrast choice.
  14. Admittedly, it could be 20 yrs old, but re-lubing shouldn't be necessary. How often does it get a workout?
  15. You need that on a D850 or better still a Z7/8/9 to get the best out of it, esp with the advantage of mirrorless AF. 😉
  16. I'm guessing it works on the higher the frequency and the higher the wattage the more 'power' for clearing? Most Blacklight photography/Fluorescence photography uses UVA.... 320-400nm. UV sterilizers work in the UVC* (100-290nm) band, so better wrap yourself up too! *Incase you are unsure which way it goes... UV-A Ages you UV-B Burns you UV-C Gives you skin Cancer Non of it is good for you, just less bad!
  17. I'd always worry that the UV component, the active clearing ingredient, is going to clear the glass, but yellow the lens element adhesives!
  18. 600mm f4? 🤔 How does the maths go when evaluating reach via equivalent focal length v sensor size, ie FX 1.1/3 stop 'better' than DX etc? Not that DXO is that liked, as such, but their ISO noise measurements of the best Nikon DX sensor is the D7500 @ ISO 1483 v best Nikon FX of Z6ii being 3303 are comparable. Sensor size 'gain' in reach seems to be a fairly level game with raise noise!
