  1. about the rebel and the best man coming with a better body, well, I would say be sure the rebel is black, you got the grip on it, and take a little black paint and paint over the red words Digital Rebel. then the camera is less recognizable and so the LENS is what looks great. so forget about the best man and his 20D with the 18-55 lens, you got some black camera with the Canon 24-75 2.8 L lens !
  2. I think... canon done away with the market of people who wanted a 300D, they already sold many with the more than generous cash in with canon rebate, with the smaller body they are losing customers with big hands to the 20D. I think this new one is marketed to women with small hands, something comfortable for women to use. not too big like the 20D and better bodies. I dont know what they were thinking with that powershot that looks like a mini slr with the L lens and little red line, camera for hobbits ?

I dont think the 350 is anything special that is worth the rebel owners to buy one. sure it is a better camera, but I think if one is to get rid of the rebel for something new, it would be at least a 20D.

dont mind me, just me thinking aloud... bad me,, bad me !

  3. I was just out shooting tonight, in the dark, in the city. I have to swear night shooting is the worst. the dark is way too dark and the light from restaurants, street lights, car headlights are way too bright. either I have blown highlights or shadows so dark I cant see jack. I guess I need a camera with better dynamic range. is the 20D or the ID mark II better in this area ? I am using a digital rebel.
  4. YES Jean, it is cheap. If I recall I only paid 29.99 for it. no bubbles to burst as the price said it all, i did say it was inexpensive right ? But for it's price, it is still pretty good. it weighs only 15.4 oz, and can hold 10 pounds easy. It is stiff and solid even when fully extended. it may not be the best that there is, but I think it works pretty good. I just leaned a quarter of my bodyweight on it. it's all right by my books and it's cheap.
  5. JEan, you didnt get it, the OP said " Hi, I have a 50mm f1.8II lens and recently i accidentally fully rotated the manual focus ring while the switch of the lens is in AF MODE"

and I said that I added the hood, now you CAN NOT turn the ring at all. I leave my lens as is, and I cant turn the ring, therefore it prevents any more accidental turning of the ring while an AF mode.

I know he asked if it will damage it, I think turning the ring while on AF can damage it, maybe not now, but I do believe it can, so I posted that with the hood and setup, you can reach in to turn it so it is safe, kind of a preventive thing...

  6. or actually, I posted a hood setup with step up ring, I notice now that I cannot turn the ring at all due to it being in the recessed area between hood and lens barrel... I just use it in Auto always , I supposed as it was designed to do anyway...<div>00B7WG-21836584.jpg.aec34681ce9d6a30de5c1cce2940928f.jpg</div>
  7. Ahem.. the canon warranty states that the warranty is for the original owner or for the person whom it was purchased as a gift. Have the seller mail you the original reciept from the Authorized dealer with the date that is less than one year, and then send that off to canon noting that it was a gift. ( read the warranty card )
  8. BH has the ES-62 Lens Hood with HD Adapter 62Lens Hood for 24 bucks, the step up I used was 7 bucks and the hood was 13 bringing to total to 20 bucks, that's only because I happen to have a spare 67mm hood I wasnt using, the rubber hoods are 5 bucks.
  9. Hello, as we all know the canon lens hood for the 50 1.8 is

expensive, yet the 52mm aftermarket hoods are kinds small and

whimpish looking. Here I have added a 52 - 67 step up and used a

67mm screw on hood in metal, I think it looks better, and it

balances out the look of the bulkier grip and flash...<div>00B6fX-21817384.jpg.8005f2d985d84cc9af751bf89a2a612b.jpg</div>

  10. Ohh boy, I already posted this, but I was missing 320 dollars from the cash in with canon for quite a while, but after all, phone calls, letters and resubmissions, I received a check for the balance. trick was, to keep copies of everything you send in, and then follow up if you dont get them in time.
  11. I assume you dont want the tamron 28-75 Di, so if it is indeed between the two lenses, the 24-70 L wins because it is just that much better of a lens.

but you can do the 28-135 if your budget is indeed that tight, and you dont enlarge much for your customers.

I think image quality is more a photographer thing than a customer thing, if you show them a print from the 28-135, they will be happy, if you show them a print from 24-70 they will be happy, but if you show them large prints from both lenses, they may be happier with the 24-70, but then again 86% of customers wouldnt know the difference between the prints and some may even like the softer look of the 28-135.

so basically it is your decision. if the cost is prohibitive, maybe the Canon 17-40, or tamron 28-75 Di ? heck for 119 bucks you can get a sigma that is reviewed to be a very very good lens for the price the sigma 28-70 http://www.popphoto.com/article.asp?section_id=2&article_id=594
