If you drop a 1D mk II on the pavement, will that survive ? is that the point of the 1 series ? if so, maybe you should buy that instead, and save you the cost of dropping two more 20D's on the floor !
-
IMAGINE, it comes out to be the same price ? OMG ! 70-200 F4L IS $600.oo ! my heavens !
-
"that they had a bunch of lenses that covered 24x36."
I think those lenses can cover 36 x 36...
-
they have canon usa here.
-
yeah, sharp is one thing, I sold my tamron 28 75 due to it's rather imho lousy construction. Canon L lenses are more usable-friendly

I Gotta go get that polarizer !
anyway, wondering at 20 or 24mm, you can shoot at 1/60 handheld, why would you need a prime ? why not a wide zoom ? like 17-40 or what have you ?
-
The answer:
Gaffers Tape.
tape ur 17-40 in a focal length, go shooting and see what you like.
after you finish 17-40, go walk around with the 50, U like that ?
then take the 28 70, tape that, what you think ?
when you find the focal length best suits you, then buy that !

Warm filter is useless with digital photography.
First if you shoot under auto white balance, it;s like the fliter is not there anyway..
If you shoot in any setting, you can set the color balance so why use a filter at all ?

well the historgram.. I use it well. If I take a picture of a black dog, with a grey backgrouund, the histogram reads lots of left, white dog, grey back, lots of right, black dog with a white envelope in his mouth, lots of left, a bit of right, some mid. etc...

isnt there a magic lantern guide to the 1D ?
-
Larry, use some LOCTITE on the knobs thread then.

If you want backup, I'd sell the D60, and buy a rebel xt, so darn small, it fits in your camera bag really nicely ! ( great for backup )
-
Randy said he does aerial photos, arent MF gear for that is very expensive ? Like, I just assumed its expensive..
-
you might as well go buy a higher res canon dslr... Medium format gear is very expensive.. well, theres always holga.
-
AND if you cant afford to sell your car to get the tilt shift, any wide angle will do fine, keep the sensor plane same as the building ! ( parreleelle )
-
Camera is fine, but just watch out the leverage on the tripod head, some quick releaes plates arent meant for that kind of leverage.

ALSO thanksgiving is around the corner, followed by BLACK FRIDAY ! check the web for this year's black friday specials. !

I went though hell buying a computer on dell small business. It was the one advertised for 380 dollars. Weeks of phone calls, I think they black listed me.
Finally I used my father's information to buy one, and then finally it came. Boo Dell !

even if there is disposable batteries in that shape, it would cost you a fortune, why not to ebay, and get a bunch of those aftermarket batteries for about 7 dollars each, charge them all up and then go ?
-
by max stop, do you mean 2.8 or 22 ? ( I hope you mean 2.8 )

read the manual about "autofocus assist light" sometimes it is a series of fast flashes off the flash. read about it, when it is dark, manual focus is hard to do also, especially on the dim and small viewfinder of the rebels.
-
read the manual.
adjust FEC to get proper exposure wth your flash unit.
Be sure to use a diffusier for nicer lighting
and adjust the color balance to match the light source. Or use custom with a white paper or grey card.
if these are done, then still on everyshot the color is off, then maybe your 20D is defective somehow.
what are you viewing your photos with ? is your monitor properly calibrated ? See this pic, is it orange too ? if so, your monitor needs adjustment.<div></div>

I asked because maybe, buying from B&H and having it shipped to Japan would be overall cheaper.
The only thing is that Japan offers Japanese only models sometimes with features only available in those specific cameras.

OH dont get the 10D or the 300d...
your choices should be Rebel XT or 20D. these are the newest of your budget.
How much light will I need?
in Canon EOS Mount

bring a light meter into the church, dont use a flash unless you have to, the beauty of churches is in the lighting. notice what kind of lights are in the church, maybe they are warm, so you can buy an incandesent 100 watt lamp in the same color temp and just hang that from a lightstand for a source.
for 3-4 people at a time, maybe you would have to use a F4 to get a good dof so everyone is in focus,
go and try it out beforehand, gather the nuns and use them as stand ins.
Or you can do like a wedding photog, and use camera, with flash.
