    following message in my email (See below).. Can someone tell me if this is an

  2. This is very strange... Nikon is currently offering two rebates when you buy a

    D300 with:

    1) 18-200mm VR lens -> $300 instant rebate

    2) 70-300mm VR lens -> $150 instant rebate

    I checked a few websites (Amazon, Costco, B&H Photo)but none of them offer the

    $150 instant rebate.... The 70-300mm VR lens rebate was valid since April 23 (I

    think).

  3. You must be crazy to say that the 17-55mm would not be rated higher than the 18-70mm... Maybe you got a bad copy? I had the 18-70mm (sold it recently) and 17-55mm, 17-55mm is a much sharper lens. The only downside is the weight but then who really cares.
  4. Guys, I need some help from you experts. What really is ADR? If I take shots of an image (lets say a garden) with exposure bracketing (e.g, +2, +1, 0, -1, -2) and:

    1) Use HDR in Photoshop...Wouldn't I get the same result or even better? Okay I need a tripod to do that...

    2) Review the raw images taken at the above exp comp values, find the ideal image and fine tune it?

  5. Thanks very much Matt!!! The VR does work very well.

    I assume you have experienced the infamous "lens creeping" syndrome on the 18-200mm lens? If so, how bad is it? Does the lens creep when you have it facing straight down?

  6. I have a question.. How good is VR? Does it save me at shutter speed of 1/15 (don't care about moving objects)? Is 18-200mm VR lens a good lens for walking around the city and taking night shots or I better off getting a faster lens like 17-55mm f/2.8?

    I don't really care about the 200 mm focal length since I have a 70-210mm non-dx lens already which I use on my D200 (so I get 210mm x 1.5 crop factor = 315mm)

  7. I have a 5700 and I love it. The 8800 is not much different from mine except for the 1) 10x magnification 2) 8 megapixel 3)scene modes

    My main grip with the 5700 (and probably the same for the 8700 and 8800)is the battery power consumption.

    I think it depends on how much you can get one for. So far I have seen it for ~ $900USD after tax etc? To me that is a bit too much for a pt'n shoot camera. Why not add some more money get a D70 instead? It's a true DSLR camera with a much bigger CCD (Better pictures quality).
