  1. JDMvW, Thanks very much for your weighing in on my image. Appreciate the comments. Mike
  2. Thanks Mike and hjoseph7 for your comments. As far as foreground sharpness, perhaps the image files I am uploading are not large enough to allow for closely scrutinizing focus. To my eye, the sharpness in the foreground is there in the larger file that I use for printing. Concerning the sharp delineation between foreground and background illumination , in retrospect, I do wish I had used my reflector to bounce a little more light in the foreground and thereby balance the lighting better between foreground and background. I may go back to that image and see if I can tweak it with Shadow/ Highlight or Levels tool. Thanks again to both of you for your constructive criticism.
  3. Wonderful subject, well exposed. The issue to me is that the lighting in the sky versus the subject does not seem to match, at least to my eye.
  4. Thanks very much for your comments. I regret not using a reflector to bounce more light into the foreground. I think that would have made it a more pleasing image with the foreground better illuminated; balancing the light with the background. Thanks again for your input.
  5. Very beautiful image. The black and white helps to accentuate the textures of the grasses and bring out the drama and the sky. One very small issue to me is that I would prefer to see the structure a little less in line with the horizon. I would prefer to see top edge of it below the edge of the horizon. Again, very small issue for an overall beautiful image.
  6. I'd like to see more of the structure of the church and less of the leaves of the tree in the upper half of the picture.
  7. This image is well exposed and processed. I believe the very center of the Rotunda is too close to the center of the image and that it might be more dynamic/ interesting if the very center of the rotunda was moved off the center of the image.
  8. To my eye, this is a nice establishing shots so I call him it clearly conveys the subject in a straightforward way. From here, I would move in and explore different angles or select isolated sections of the building for appealing and compelling images.
  9. I find the sun lit floor in the foreground to be distracting and it takes away from the wonderful architecture and structures in the background.
  10. To my eye, the black and white image is much more dramatic and pleasing. It also has more contrast than the color image. So it has those two things going for it, I believe.
  11. You've captured very nice expressions of the infant in the first two images and the inquisitiveness of the child in the third. Good job.
  12. Well composed. Captures the decisive moment. Good work!
  13. Thanks very much for your thoughts and suggestions. Appreciate your comments.
  14. A good one third of the bottom of the image lacks any significant detail, which is troublesome to my eye. I feel the placement of the sun in the middle of the image is also problematic and it's very bright. I like the idea of silhouetting the shapes, but perhaps waiting another minute or so till the sun is partially setting behind the horizon would make it more appealing.
  15. I like the graininess of this image. Gives it a gritty feel. The arched shapes are rather bright toward the bottom of the image which is somewhat distracting to my eye. I wonder if a little less symmetry might make a image a little more dynamic? Very interesting. That's why
  16. I really like the title of this image. In addition to the title is the image itself, of course! The tree trunks and forgound shapes give the image a great deal of depth. Lovely image.
  17. Thanks Tommy. I appreciate your comments. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts Kind regards, Mike
  18. I like the cropping of the image to a 4x5 equivalent. To me, I get a sense from this image that the garage is a little spooky; not a place where I would want to park my car. Nice image.
  19. I find the spiral staircase interesting. To my eye, the light on the bricks on the right side is somewhat distracting. Nice color.
  20. I like the color version better as well. I like the color of the Tomato repeated throughout the image. The Tomato seems to stand out more in color. I like the warmth that the color version exudes. Very fine job.
  21. The beautiful side lighting helps to accentuate the shapes of the stones. Great sense of depth. The long shutter speed to blur the water gives an ethereal quality to the scene. To my eye, I have some reservations about the placement of the horizon being in the middle of the image, but overall I do think that having that much sky in the scene adds to the sense of immensity of the landscape. Quite enjoyable.
  22. The serious, intimidating stare of the subject combined with the strong diagonals gives a wonderful sense of tension and unease. Very dynamic. Well done.
  23. Strong vertical elements in this scene. The Columns that frame the image just add strength to that message. Well done.
