  1. I think you had it going, and your composition was very good.  But I think it lacks depth and drama; the saturation needs boosting and the exposure is a bit hot. Bring the exposure down about 2 stops and it would improve, I think.

You did everything right, but I think the skin was overtreated...  But you did a great job overtreating it, if that makes sense.

WHAT?  A 4.45?  Is everyone crazy?  This is a GREAT shot for it's minimalist simplicity, elegant lines, smooth atmosphere...  This is a wall hanger, folks...  Trememndous shot!!!  A "7"

At first glance it's very impressive....  but it looks very much like a composite.  The line between the warm light where the person is standing and the beach behind it looks like it was placed there; the light on the foreground rock is very cool, and the background is very warm...  very incongruous...

Actually, I kind of like it.  There's nothing special about it; just a sleeping cat.  But I think it's the way the cat's body is contorted, you don't often see a shot of cats in that position.  Obviously in deep sleep, and you got close in so the detail is tremendous, great lighting...  The surrounding color matches the cats coat...  I just know I like this shot.  Well done!!  I might try a little vignette to add a little drama, but that's not a deal killer for me.  Nice job!!

  2. I can't believe this shot has only earned a 5.27 rating.  This is a superb shot in every way it can be measured.  Perfectly exposed, and doesn't not display obvious overdone HDR.  It's level, color is very good without being over saturated, composition is excellent...  someone tell me why this is not a "7" with everyone?

    Excellent work!!!

Before you composite a moon into your shots you should reveal such, or learn that a full moon does not appear in the alignment you show here. The artificial placement of the moon is obvious. I don't have a problem with it conceptually, just not revealing it when posting. But then again, the problem is so obvious, it doesn;t need explanation. Don't get into the habit of doing this all the time.

You know you've seen a great portrait when you think you can describe someone's personality by seeing it. Excellent, excellent work. Plus, she's just as sexy as it comes. But you captured it!!

Let me add that the ratings on this shot are not justified. This is great work, albeit a little weak on the strobe intensity. White balance is perfect, great expression, the text on the shirt reflects her attitude, this is what portraiture is all about. Arms outstretched against an expansive sky... also, I might have tried to get the hands in the shot, you may have not been able to. She might have jumped and you did what you could. Great work. I love this shot. You did the important stuff right.

Excellent shot!! Great capture of her personality, she's relaxed, happy, very very good. But she is lighted poorly compared to the sunset. Maybe a bit stronger on the strobe.... otherwise, tremendous work!!
  3. TO THE MODERATOR:

No one is criticizing THAT it is manipulated, we all are simply making the observation that that is our opinion. If you are going to invite comments and critique, knowing if it is a real photo or a Photoshop creation is germain to that discussion. The photographer has a history of posting manipulated photos, thus the reason for the direction of the thread. The issue can be readily put to bed by the OP posting a screen shot of the original RAW file in a RAW converter w/ image number reflected. She wont' do that, so the debate continues. Make us all recant and apologize; post the prooof and she is vindicated.

  4. IF this is a real photo it's a tremendous capture. I don't think it's real. I'd like to see the negative or raw file. Water absorbs light as it reflects and no water reflects 100% of original. There is no difference between the duck's wing and the reflection, therefore I think it's a fake reflection. Plus, where is the reflection of the right wing? The background is too perfectly seamless, it's just too perfect to be real. BUT, if I am wrong, then bravo. But I remain dubious. This photo is bogus.

  5. Sorry to be a downer here, but this image is way over saturated and way too contrasty. The Dynamic range is very bad, and although the view is great, and this image had potential, it falls way short in post, I feel.

Technically this is a perfect image. A 7. (GREAT skin work, btw) But something strikes me a bit about the pose. She's resting her chin on the ball of her hand, and it's pushing her lower jaw to one side slightly. Looks slightly off to me. The B&W image of her is 100% 7/7, but this one is a 6/6 in my view.

My gut reaction to this shot is that I like it, but I also think it would work better as a landscape orientation with the rock in the right 1/3 of the image, or eliminated altogether. Great great lighting; you nailed it, level horizon, look like you used a split density filter very well... reflection works well... very good shot, except I think it would look better as landscape.
