FE2.. automation (not only manual)
-
First, if you are a Nikon user and have the money, I strongly suggest an FM3a for two reasons (1) it is new and will last for another two decades easy (2) you could use it for whatever photograph works that you want to.
However if you don't want to spend a lot the FA is not a bad idea. the metering is pretty good even by today standard, and you will like it. The only minus is that it is an old machine unless you can get a like new one.
Personally, i like the aperture priority mode, that is why FM2n (manual) is not in my list. If you like it, it is not a bad choice either..
having said that the three cameras that I would suggest are:
1. FM3A (if you have the money- (more than $400.00 for the body) OR
2. Nikon FE or FE2 if you don't want to spend a lot ($100-$200)OR
3. Nikon FA ($150.00 and below)
My two cents

Thanks all for the testimonies whether positive, negative or neutral. As the CSR said that the "item is shipped" and he will email me the tracking number, I will wait for the email and see the quality of their item. Thanks again for the inputs. Happy new year and shoot well.

Hi, usually I bought from KEH and happy enough with their quality,
customer service, and fast shipping. Sometimes I put a note in the
email that I want it fast, and they will honor that request. This
week I bought a lens from Adorama in the famous online auction. It
ended Monday night, and paid few hours after that because I want it
fast since they said "Most orders ship within 24 business hours". So
I expect that at least after two days the most it will be shipped. I
called today and the person on the line said ..it is shipped today
(Thursday). This is to me too slow. Do you guys have this kind of
experience? is this normal with this company?

Ditto Vivitar 285 HV. It works really good with N90s. Last time I used this setting with the N90s and Nikon AF35-135mm and the 285HV. If you set it on auto and shutter priority on the n90s, the exposure should be very accurate. I still have two N90s but now I use my faster AF slr.

he was referring to the auto rewind feature at the end of a roll

"She seemed to enjoy the camera quite a bit, and the more I watched her use the camera, the more I thought about getting one for myself."
Is she beautiful..?

"Gee this hobby may turn out to be more expensive than golf!"
Ditto

let us see the picture please

Actually, I will take the more expensive one...

as "color"--US spelling
-
some people has never been outside of the states, this type of people will get mad if you spell colour (Britain) as "colour "USA" or tire as "tyre"..
Back to the the lense.. hehe..lens question, if Santa gives you any of those..you are lucky enough..

F5 with manual lenses is not a bad idea.
-
Nikon FM3a absolutely. I just bought one.
-
I have both F4s and N90s. The N90s is collecting dust now. I shoot mostly potraits.

OOps, as she did get the D70 from her hubby, a manual Nikkor lens is good for her budget.

I don't know why we want to make it so complicated, she said she can't afford to buy the true macro lens..a Nikon 105mm 2.8 is above $500.00, even Tamron 90mm 2.8 is somewhere around $350.00 not to add that D70s or D200 aka Digital SLRs that someone is trying to propose...gimme a break...a digital camera will do for her..
-
Walmart's one-hour processsing lab in my area gives a better image quality than the CVS, Walgreens, and even their own 3-4 day order. So, I don't believe in blanketing the stores' name for quality.

As Jos, I always recommend newbies to buy digital cameras (with macro/micro capabilities) with large MPixels (5 or more) for micro or macro works since the results are simply amazing because of the larger depth of fields (due to smaller sensors) that they have. In addition to that it is also an advantage if you do not want to carry the bulky slr and the lenses around. Its more than enough for amateur backyard micro/macro shots.

I also think its the batteries

Jane, kindly post your pictures anytime soon and keep us update..Honestly I am curious and really interested in the Fz-30. I want to see images from regular people and not reviewers. I am a Nikon Coolpix's user by the way.
Cheers

Get a bag, and a filter for the precious leica lens and buy a card and start shooting...after a while you"ll know what you need or may be what you want after being an addicted digital guy.
