When I brightened I lost detail in the flower, so I opted for a slightly darker version.  Your post inspired me to try again...lo and behold, I remember "shadow and highlights."  Take a look at the new version.

Let me know what you think.

(I always seem to think what I view on PN is a tad darker than what I see in PSE7, any thoughts on this?)

    Thanks

    All Critiques welcome.

This monarch was having a snack in an old watermelon in my garden.

Please tell me at least 1 thing I did correctly and 1 thing that needs

    improvement.

    Thanks

    Six Years Later

          2

This is my niece...6 years later.

She posed for this picture when she was 2.  I took this photo when I first got my camera.  I was amazed by her cuteness (i'm her uncle, I can say that) and the fact that everytime she heard the camera click she changed positions.  No coaching, no posing.  I have a slew of little photos of her and it seemed as though she understood body position (Better than I did.)

Fast forward...6years later.  She was more than happy to get the 5 boys out of the family photo so she could get some of her own camera time.  Again, I walked away with a handful of photos.  None of which did I pose, this one included.  She seems to naturally create the angles that appear and balance this photo.

    Enjoy.

I like the background you chose for this photo. The lighting is good as well.  The pose is unusual, and that is good.  what lens did you choose to shoot with?
