  1. Hi Pnina, I really hate to mimic others words, but suppose I have to here... what a refreshing view for a normally "plain ol'" bird photo! I'm as yet undecided what to think about the gold splotch... at first look I thought it highly distracting, but... the more I view it, the more I like its inclusion. Excellent capture!
  2. I appreciate the comments! I tired of waiting for the rain to stop... just picked a lull in the showers, used a 2-1/2 gallon plastic freezer baggie to cloak the camera in for the walk, and removed it when set up to take photographs. But then again, there's no electronics in my camera, and I'm not too concerned about a little bit of fresh water.

The effect of the rain was really nice, and the only thing stopping me from the pursuit of more images in the rain... after spending several days wet and cold and muddy, came home with a dreadful chest cold. Photography is just plain miserable some days..... ;-)

  3. This photo was shot in the rain (a slight drizzle at this time). The puddle of water in the frame is normally the receiving pond of a 90-ft waterfall, but Ohio has been very dry (at least until my trip) and none of the waterfalls in this area has water going over it. There's several other photos in the Ohio folder that shows this waterfall with the active fall.
  4. Hi Kim,

The Rock House is a large cave located half-way down a cliff. It has a small opening that serves as a door, and two smaller openings that serves as windows. No actual climbing of rock faces to get to it... this trail takes you to the entrance. But this is a flat segment of the trail... most of the trail has steps cut into the rocks.

This photo, by the way, is taken in the rain. I spent 4 days (Oct 19-22) in the region taking photographs... and it rained nearly non-stop during my trip. The rain in the deep woods made for a different look on most of the series of photos. More coming.....

  5. Sondra - Now you've hit a real soft spot of mine... steam engines! This one is very nicely presented. Where is this train located?

Think I'd have a tendency to crop the bottom some on this one... ridding it of the slightly out of depth of field tracks in the immediate foreground, and creating more of a square image of this one.

I have a few steam engines in my Gallery here, and more on my family's photography site: www.SceneChasers.com in the Americana Gallery.

  6. Thanks for the comments. Nova, I've been rather reluctant to crop the top of this photo... thought the light at the upper left contained nice details and provided a completion of photo-flow. That is... until I saw your attachments with two suggested crops... both are improvements... much appreciated. -Glenn-
