Mr. Bridges, you and the other high school kids at the drugstore should realize that the machine you're operating works by scanning the negatives and then spits out digital prints.
Mr.Klap, you and the other old retired dudes should realize that is where the vast majority of film users go to have their negs proccessed and printed. They would be a lot better of using digital having complete control over their work.
The stink of chemicals and the size of grain on different films along with the good old days i leave to you old timers to mutter and murmer about.

do their own darkroom work
Nah the dudes queue up with a bunch of housewifeメs and their screaming kids to get them done for them. Some young dude who's just left school does the work usually.

Leica and Tri-X
And count all that ugly grain dude. Don't tell, let me guess, the large lumps of ugly grain actually improve the pic.And only a Leica lens can give those lumps of grain that special bokem.
Got it!

Frustrated by the dirty grainy look and messing with smelly chemicals, I've recently switched to a DSLR....and i love my camera to bits.

Canon/Nikon will add IS/VR to every prime lens?
No. How useful to have every lens you buy,or have, to be IS/VR. That is what Sony have achieved with it's body image stabilizer.
-
Canon/Nikon have spent a lot of marketing money convincing consumers of the more pixels the better the dream. They will not allow Sony to high jack this marketing. Remember how disappointed many people were that the 30D had only 8mp. Nikon was quick to re act with 10mp D200 and now Sony is on the same bandwagon. Anti shake,10mp, dust cleaning, Zeiss lenses, and half the price of the Nikon D200.
I think Geoff is on the button with his post.
-
but it could seriously take a bite out of the middle of the market--20D, D200, etc. because it seems to have the same sensor as the D200
The price and features seem to be pitched very cleverly to maximise the market potential.
If anyone does not think that the Alpha will not be a serious contender they need to look again at the price and features on offer.
Brand loyalty only stretches so far.
-
I think there is a price break and the Sony could hit th sweet spot with advanced specifications. There is no doubt that it will cause some shake and stir in the market for the good.
Interesting to see how it all pans out.

The real battle in the DSLR market is at the bottom end where the battle of brands begins and consumer loyalty starts. Nikon seem to be the clear winner at present with the excellent prosumer D50 at a mere 360.
-
It certainly gives pause for thought.
10mp, anti-shake technolgy,competitive pricing,Zeiss lenses!
Hmm.

Thanks for the informative reply Guy.
Ive been reading about vignetting problems with the Canon 5D over on the EOS forum. It was believed that it was more of a lens issue than the camera. I was wondering if any of the Leica lenses you use have the problem particularly as they have not been corrected for digital use.
I prefer to ask these questions to experienced practising users. Thanks

While you are still about Guy i was wondering how easy is it to swop backs on the DMR.
-
Iメm sure there was a Canon advert with a squirrel called Giampi in it. Can't be the same Giampi as we all know squirrels can't read or write.
Unless the squirrel has been subjected to some nefarious experiments by Canon in their quest to cure the vignettes. The truth can be stranger than fiction dudes.
I wonder if he likes acorns.

what is the point of posting these on a Leica forum?
Some dudes just want to tell every other dude what to do. No all wonderful dudes.
They must have divine lights shining up and out of their buts.

I was born handsome... not smart. ;>)
Just the dude.....
For the love of your fellows Denny how about dunking your Leica in a barrel of beer.
Give us word if it works.
-
Word on the street dude is they are waterproof unless you get them wet.

The hormonal bun in the oven has finally given birth a love-in is taking place among the happy dudes.
Sweet dudes sweet.
-
Dudes the quality of the images seems to raise like bread in an oven in direct relationship with the temperature of this place.

Any ideas?

Chinese whispers dudes.
-
I was so excited to have my 30D delivered today,
Wow,me to. I would be so excited i might have wet myself when it finally arrived.
Enjoy,jealous.

The "Buyer Justification Manual" accompanying the DMR clearly states that in order to get the most out of the DMR, you must first bash - in clearly subjective terms, of course - all the other DSLRs
Obviously you do not understand the understandable conception or believe in the word 'superior'. Obviously you are financially challenged.
-
there are lots of people making images with superb quality with all brands of DSLRs.
The DMR has superior dynamic range dude and does not give plastic images for people shots.
How many times do you have to be told!
-
BS. Of course a print will reveal a lot more dud. Use your eyes dude even a low res monitor will tell a story.
Nice screen quality shot Williams i'm sure the quality of the print will be of equal value.

film because we find the difference to be profound
Amazing what some dudes think profound. This one thinks a chemical process and being able to tie his shoe laces is profound.
