  1. Nice pictures Chuck,

If you have built a website to show off your work, then is ok to start with. But scrolling to see you pictures is irritating to me. It goes on and on and on..

The picture i liked most in your gallery was that of the girl in the bar dressed like an angel. I think there is too much in the picture to think about.

One more suggestion, is to give some words about the picture, like, location.

  2. Haveman,

First of all, you need to have a properly exposed picture to work with. I mean you exposure is off, and to that he is wearing a white shirt and a white background too.

After you convert the picture into RGB one, press CTRL+1, CTRL+2, CTRL+3, to view only Red, Green and Blue channels respectively and see, which scores more in terms of exposure. Try to have more of that and check the picture again.

Postprocessing is totally dependent upon your own taste, so is photography. Try different options and you might like something.

    I have one query,

How do you pick a picture and say, "Okay, this will look good in B&W"??

  3. If you can set the ISO Manually, then you are done.. Rate the iso to its maximum value and meter the scene and come back to the original ratings.

This is one of the tips in the book by Lee Frost. If you are interested in low light photography, you better have a look at this book..

  4. For Tele Lenses, anything more than 300 mm, i don't recommend the grip head, You should seriously look into ball head like the 488RC2.

Regarding the avaialability of Manfrotto products in India, we have a official distributor in Delhi, Royal Broadcasting.

Very recently i had purchased 055PROB with the grip head at his place.

The price of 488RC2 is around 5000 INR.

  5. The recomendation of the lenses will rather depend upon what you are interested to shoot. If you are interested in shooting wide angle with your D70, you have to opt for DX Lens which will give you wide angle easily or i should say, cheaply. The kit lens, is very well recomended for the same. It starts with 17 mm with is equivalent approximately equal to 26 mm.

  6. The pictures from D70 or D100 is in the ratio of 3:2. So if your print size has also the same ratio, then there might not be picture crop.

If you ask for some other print, like the ones you have mentioned, they need to crop out some of the portion of your print.

  7. Hi All,

Recently, i went to the market to buy a 24/2.8 lens, but came across,

this particular lens, the lens( second hand) was looking good, but

wanted to know about the performance.

I already own a 50mm and i don't have anything less than this.

    What do you suggest?

  8. I don't think mirror lockup is necessary for taking ordinary shots. It might be essential for Macro shots. It would not be a problem at all, if you have the camera set on a good tripod and use a external release like remote..

But, you can check if the mirror lockup is there, by removing the lens and setting the camera in manual mode, and shutter at 125 and pressing the shutter, in timer mode. ( Don't know for sure though). I have done this myself, with my F80.

  9. The tripod, 3021PRO has padding in two of its legs, so that carrying over the shoulder is not a problem, I will try it next time.

Regarding the grip head,it keeps the wait on the ball, which is exactly over the tripod center, but the problem i find is composing and panning.

  10. Hi All,

Yesteday, i took my 400mm/5.6 Sigma Lens to local zoo to practise with

manfrotto tripod (3021PRO) and grip action ball head(322RC2). First of

all, it was quite heavy to carry the whole setup. I faced few problems

while i was shooting and am looking for suggestion to correct them.

How do you carry your tripod and lens? detach the lens from the tripod

and hang it in your shoulder/nect? or carry it with the tripod?

How do you compose using the pistol head? It was quite difficult to

rotate the lens by pressing the grip in the ball head and keeping the

lens in horizontal orientation. Any other alternative for this kind of

    problem?

    Thanks in advance

  11. Hi all,

This is my first experience, where the lab person gave me the

negatives which were all over exposed by 1 or 2 stops. And as i was

telling him this, he told that i would have over-exposed the film

myself, before i gave it to them.

Is there any way, where we can find, whether it was over-exposed or

    over-developed?

Why, cant film manufacturers provide some kind of film, where we can

find whether it was properly developed by the lab?
