  1. Nice work Tyler ... I, personally, like the tone and lighting in this image over the other similar (same) image you have posted ... just a preference. As for composition and rules of thirds ... as you stated, sometimes you have to work with what you have and include the scene as it speaks to you when you look through the lens. There is always post work and/or the ability to take additional images while at the scene to compare after-the-fact. Or, as you stated, return and capture again ... if you have that option. Without being there, I do not feel that you can crop or change much for this image if your intention is to include the sunset and such. As a bonus: I do like the left side and believe you have an image-within-an-image if you crop a tight horizontal crop just underneath boat reflection carry across just past the mid-tree, include the small boat and then crop just above the red-lit cloud. All in all, this image is balanced and has great tone and reflections. All in all, excellent work, detail, composition, d.o.f., etc., etc.!

Seth: Excellent image ... great detail, low angle, composition, D.O.F., contrast ... etc. ... looks great in B&W ... and indeed what a day, experience and moment you had. Excellent work ... very impressive.

Excellent work Tyler ... Serenity ... you definitely found it on October 11th ... not only with this image, but the other images as well. Your vision, perspective, presentation and ability to capture the moments are powerful. Keep up the great work. Happy holidays!
  2. Lake Tahoe is an amazing place ... At 6,229 feet above sea level,

over 193 square miles of surface water, with an average depth of 989

feet, 71 miles of shoreline, surrounded by a vast mountain range ...

and with intense color and water clarity, Lake Tahoe is simply a

Precious Gem in the Sky ... diamond, sapphire and emerald quality -

all in one. We just returned from a relaxing week in Tahoe. After

living in Tahoe for nearly five years, I seldom had the opportunity

to capture a calm water sunset ... until now. Wishing everyone all

the best during this time of year and always. Comments appreciated.

  3. Fall is here and the Aspens are illuminating their golden color

Winter is near and snow has fallen. With the blankets of snow, winds

and elements, it simply is amazing that these trees can survive in

such harsh conditions. As a result of these harsh conditions, we are

blessed to see unique twists, bends and alterations from a standard

straight growth. This tree caught my attention and appears to be in

celebration of the season. Critiques and comments appreciated.

  4. In a recent trip to the California Sierras in early August, a natural

snow cave was discovered which was created by natural seasonal run-

off. Debating the risk of a collapse, a final decision was made to

venture in. This cave was approximately 200 feet long, approximately

20-30 feet wide and about 6-8 feet tall. The colors in the ceiling of

this snow cave are natural; I am assuming the red color is from the

seeds and/or sediment; and, the blue areas are thin areas with sky

illumination. This experience was simply an enjoyable and unexpected

    delight.

    Critiques and comments welcome.
