Hi Roberto, Nothing really, just a preference. I like the metal
shades better than plastic. I was just wondering if it is normal for
the shade to spin.

Actually I'm using it on the ASPH version of the 35mm summicron and
the hood looks almost new.

I have the Leica metal lens hood 12504 that fit's the 35mm summilux 1.4 and the summicron 35mm f2 and am wondering if anyone can tell me why it spins when attached to a summicron. I like the metal hoods better than plastic but the fact that it spins is a bit annoying. Any ideas?

I managed to purchase the titanium model, used, before it was
discontinued and paid roughly the same as a standard M6. I think it
is a great looking camera and am happy with the performance but I
bought it for cosmetic reasons and am not sure it's any more scratch
resistant than my black one. Nothing wrong with satisfying your
aesthetic side.

I find this lug much more interesting then the Leica User Group. I
monitored it and found that it wasn't for me. I like that I can ask
questions here and not have to wade through a huge amount of e-mail.
As for the Leica M, I am now officially a true believer. After many
years of using SLR's I sold all of my Canon gear and purchased Leica M
cameras and I'll never go back. For the work I do the camera is
wonderful. There is a learning curve but as time passes I get
increasingly more confident with the system and the lenses simply
can't be beat. I love the Leica look. I am also fascinated with the
cameras history and marvel at how many memorable, significant and just
plain great photos that were and still are made with M cameras. I
have also had the pleasure of working with one of the photographers on
this list who in my humble opinion is one of the best Leica
photographers I've seen. He helped me really see the virtues of the
camera in practice.

I have a few favorite bags that I think are ideal for the Leica system
most of which are mentioned already. I have 2 domke 803 satchel bags
one made with the ballistic material which is a bit bigger and more
padded than the standard 803 bag and a Domke F3X when I need extra
space. My favorite and most used bag is the Lowepro sideline shooter
waist bag. It holds 2 M6's with 24mm and 35mmn lenses attached and an
additional lens, either a 50mm or a 90mm, with plenty of room for
film. I carry it over a shoulder or as a fanny pack. Its well made
and low profile. I am still waiting for someone to design the perfect
bag.

Thanks to all who responded to my question. I decided on 2 M6's and
the 24, 35, 90 combination. I think that should cover most of the
situations I may find myself in.

I have a question for those of you who use the M system when traveling. My Wife and I are traveling to Turkey in May and I am trying to decide what lenses to carry. I want to keep it light but well equipped. I am thinking of 2 M6 bodies and 24, 35, 90 or 24, 35 and 50mm combination. What recommendations do you traveling Leica photographers have? Thanks.

Hi John,

I had a complete Contax system consisting of A. G2 21, 35, 90 mm
lenses. I sold the lot and purchased a fair amount of Leica M gear. I
loved the Contax and the lenses but I just couldn't get used to
trusting the camera's auto focus, especially the 90 mm. After 2 years
of use, mainly travel, I got tired of looking through film only to
find pictures out of focus when they shouldn't be. I sent the lenses
and camera back to Contax for a check up and they did some adjustments
but the problem never went away. Since I purchased the Leica system I
don't have to worry about out of focus pictures unless I make a
mistake. The M series is the best rangefinder camera I've ever used
and I'm happy I made the switch. Hopefully you will find this
helpful.

Hi Mark,

If the camera is clean and functions properly I would jump on the it
ASAP. M4's have gone up in value significantly and are considered to
be the last of the bench made M cameras. I have one and wouldn't
trade it for anything.

Hi Roberto,

I have heard from Leica photographers that the super angulon is a
wonderful lens. It is the smallest 21 made and if I'm not mistaken it
focuses closer than the elmarits. I have the 24 mm and think its a
great performer but if I needed a 21 mm I would want the super
angulon 3.4.

I wanted to ask how many Leica photographers out there switched from the older 35mm summicron to the new aspheric version. If so, what are your observations regarding the new lens compared to the previous one and are you happy with the ASPH lens.

Thanks

I am just wondering how many Leica M photographers use a wrist strap.I am referring to the one that comes with the soft leather camera case but it can pe purchased separately. I am wondering how many photographers find this strap useful in everyday shooting situations.

Can you tell us what the new finder costs. I look forward to
something other than the current finder on the 24mm-m. I really
dislike the current one.
