I really like #7, #16 and #19 from Morocco and the 1st 3 from Jordan.
Very nice work, I envy your trip. I would like very much to see that
part of the world. I recently found a book by photographer Harry
Gruyaert on Morocco. Some of the best color photography I've ever
seen. Although I don't speak German, I did pick up that all the
photos were shot with Leicas and Kodachrome film.

Thanks for your post

Hello Victor,
<p>
Have a look at the Lowepro sideline shooter. IMHO it's the best fanny
pack for the needs you describe. It was designed by a guy working for
a newspaper in my area and I think it's a well thought out bag. I've
traveled extensively with it and have been very pleased. Hope that
helps.

Being a fan of photography & photographers I have a fair number of
books and more than a few by Bresson and I would have to respectfully
disagree with the majority of opinions about his work. IMHO I think
he was a brilliant photographer who inspired many more greats. I for
one loved his India book and would be hard pressed to see better
photographs from that part of the world.
<p>
His impact on photography is still seen today in much of the work
being done.

This is one of those difficult to answer questions and one I've asked
myself quite often. I'm not sure what advice to give except to say I
wouldn't go anywhere without my 35 1.4 ASPH & 50 summicron. I used to
travel with a 24, 35, 90 combination and have changed that to 21 SA,
35 1.4 ASPH & 50 summicron. I find the 50 much more useful than the
90mm. Last time out I used it quite often. Good luck.

I wanted to add to comments by sait & Rob. I took 2 flights while in
Turkey and never had a problem having my film hand checked. I don't
know if that's changed but thought you should no it was never a
problem.

Hello Reiner,
<p>
I had no problem at all taking photos in Istanbul. The people were
very friendly and open. My only regret is I wasn't able to stay in
the city longer. I suggest going down by the Golden Horn, many
wonderful photo opportunities there. Also, try the many teahouses
where men play cards in the evening. For me Turkey is an endless
visual feast. I recommend enjoying a tea when the locals, not
necessarily carpet sellers, invite you. While there I stumbled on one
of the great Leica photographers of our time, Ara Guler. He spent a
good part of his career documenting Istanbul. Have a look at his work
while your there.
<p>
Click on the link if you like to see a few photos from Turkey, one is
in Istanbul and two others from other parts of the country.

Can you tell me where you purchased it? It seems that the
dealers I normally buy from have been out of stock for awhile.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Badris,
<p>
1958-1963, all chrome lens. Made in M and screw mount versions. M
mount lenses were made with a screw mount adapter, which could be
removed by turning a tiny screw. It was thus usable on the screw
mount bodies. Info from http://www.cameraquest.com/classics.htm
<p>
Hope that helps.

Hello Vikram,
<p>
Thank you for your kind words about my picture, I appreciate it. As
for photos that strike a chord. Recently I found a first edition copy
of the book 'A Greek Portfolio' by Constantine Manos. The book
represents an
impromptu pictorial account of Manos's travels through rural Greece
and the Greek Islands. For me it is books like this that make
photography so magical.
<p>
If your a fan of Raghubir Singh and Bresson's India book you might
want to check out Steve McCurry's book 'south southeast', another
great monograph with incredible photos from India & South East Asia.

Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated. I chose black &
white for this project because I was shooting color for all my other
assignments and I missed black & white. I was doing it for myself so
I didn't have to worry about restrictions.
<p>
I am hoping to post more photos from this project soon on photonet.
<p>
Thanks again for your posts,

It is indeed the 24mm. Sorry for the confusion but everytime you add
a photo on photo net they ask for all the info. I no longer own the
24mm so I just plugged in something to get the photo uploaded.

Hello lusers,
<p>
This is a photo of a young bride to be the day before her wedding. She is having henna applied to her feet in preparation for the upcoming ceremony. It was taken with a Leica M6 and 24mm 2.8 ASPH. It's one of my favorites from a series on the Sikh community. Hope you like it.

Hello Ilkka,
<p>
I had the same problem with this lens after getting it new. I lived
with it and it had no effect on performance. If you are concerned I
suggest you return it for another. From what I know it is a common
occurrence with this lens.

Richard is a very nice guy. Our transaction was flawless. I'm sure we
will do business again.

I am a picture editor for the Associated Press before that I was a
staff photographer for a newspaper in the Bay Area. Most of my
photos are self generated these days with the exception of an
occasional assignmet. I am ejoying the freedom of making pictures
for myself, although not as frequently as I'd like, and focusing on
my interests, swiching over to the Leica M system has made that
process a lot of fun. I feel very fortunate to still be connected to
the business of photo Journalism and the people I've come to know and
love.

Never mind all, I managed to get it open. Nice work Rob. Some of the
pictures are outstanding. If you don't mind my saying, I think some
of the photos are a bit repetitive. IMHO I would consider editing the
group a bit tighter. How long were you able to work on the project?
Are all the photos shot with Leica M. If so, do you have a lens
preference? I'm wondering what you think of Steve McCurry's work.
<p>

Hello Rob,
<p>
Unfortunately I am unable to open the link. Any idea why?

Greg,
<p>
It is out of print but I would consider the photographic essay by
William Allard. IMO one of the best books on the subject. The author
talks about field work as well as technical aspects of doing essays,
the photography is wonderful as well.
