To be honest, Bob, I don't like this idea. A test on the Terms of Service would likely cause a significant reduction in the number of new members registering with the site. Most people do not have the time or desire to completely read the Terms of Service for every site they register with, or, for that matter, to fill out a test.
And, as others have mentioned, many of photo.net's members are not native speakers of English. It would be unfair to expect these members to fully read and understand a statement in a foreign language, and then have to take a test on it. This site is intended for world-wide use, and not as a high school foreign language course.
So, sure, members are supposed to read and understand the Terms of Service before registering, as almost all other registration sites require. But in all honesty, do most people bother? No, of course not. And we should not try to force them.

Actually, we never intended that the community pages include such scrolling photos. Some members, however, were adding these images through HTML in their biographies. We prefer that the community pages look similar to each other, which allows a more pleasing appearance for the site in general.

I just logged in as you and I was able to get to the correct page. If you're using a shared computer you may need to log out of an account before you log-in to your own account.

Try typing text directly into the text boxes. Sometimes cutting and pasting text from other sources can create this problem.
-
This seems to be a common problem. Some photo.net members have suggested ways to correct this:
- reduce the file size
- shorten the file name
- try to upload the photo a few times in a row, by
hitting the back button on your browser
- check that you are saving in 'save for the web' format
- try to upload the photo from a different browser or computer
- wait a few hours and try again
Hope this helps!

Only three of the ratings were submitted through the rate recent queue. Therefore, this photo does not meet the minimum requirement of five rate recent ratings.
-
You may delete the photo, which will effectively delete the critique request. Please note, however, that the critique request will still count toward your limit of critique requests per day.
-
Actually, you may hide a folder from public view by clicking on the individual folder and selecting 'edit folder title and sequence'. Setting the sequence to 0 will effectively hide the folder from public view.

Only administrators are able to change user names, and we will only change user names in certain cases. For example, we will change your name if you've had a legal name change, as may happen through marriage. We will also fix mistakes typed during registration, and we will change last names to initials.

Yes, that's right. While these ratings show up on the rating lists, they will not count in the TRP for a few days. This helps reduce the number of trolls and bots who are able to leave many low (or sometimes high) ratings.
-
You need five rate recent ratings to qualify for a spot in the TRP for the last one day or three days. You need 11 ratings to qualify for a spot in the TRP for the last week.
Not all average ratings count towards this minimum - only average ratings obtained through the rate recent queue.
-
Your most recently loaded photo only has five rate recent ratings, which is not enough to qualify for a spot in the top photos section. I suppose, though, that you are probably talking about a photo uploaded a few days ago.
Yes, we consider a photo for the TRP based on when it was uploaded to the site, not when it was submitted for critique.

I am able to see both your community page and my own. Perhaps it was a temporary problem.

There seem to be quite a few people who have trouble with PS7. Members have suggested quite a few things to solve the problem. You may want to try to:
- reduce the file size
- shorten the file name
- try to upload the photo a few times in a row, by
hitting the back button on your browser
- re-check that you are saving in 'save for the web' format
- try to upload the photo from a different browser or computer
- wait a few hours and try again
Hope this helps.

You may also want to consider adding your name to your photographs. At least this way, if someone copies your photographs you'll get free advertising!
-
Kelly, you're right, there does seem to be a problem with the advertisements for subscribers. However, subscribers shouldn't be seeing the ads. We are trying to figure out why some subscribers seem to be seeing the ads anyway.
-
I'm not sure why your firewall is giving you this incorrect information. photo.net does not scan members' ports.
-
If you want to see no ads, become a subscriber. You should become a subscriber, anyway, as photo.net is not a free site. We need the revenue obtained through subscriptions to stay on the internet.
And it'll certainly be a nicer viewing experience when you become a subscriber and see absolutely no ads, as even banner ads are now removed for subscribers.
-
Your photo was submitted to photo.net on November 13th. Therefore, it would only be eligible for a spot in the top photos of the past three months.
-
Unfortunately, we are unable to list all of the countries our members live in. I apologize for the inconvenience. However, I hope that you will continue to enjoy the use of photo.net for free as a non-subscriber.
-
Sure, I've edited it for you.
-
While you do have 11 anonymous ratings, only 8 of these are rate recent ratings. The other three anonymous ratings are rate category ratings, and do not count towards the rate recent average. You need a minimum of 11 rate recent ratings to qualify for the monthly view of the rate recent section of the TRP.
-
Subscribers should not be seeing these advertisements. Try logging out of your workspace and then logging back in.
-
I am not sure why you are unable to disapprove comments. Regardless, I have edited out the swear word the member used to compliment your work.
