I tried using a monopod but you miss some shots.

Usually I try to prop my camera on a fence if it has plastic railing.

Also sometimes i use a bag of rice to reduce movement. (Of course the fence has to be the right height, and sometime kids in dug outs hit the fence)

I use film and try to shoot around 1/500, usually i can use 100 speed film, unless it is cloudy or late evening.

I've been using a elan7 and getting print and then selling them

later at little league games.

But i want to do tournaments and would have to print them on site.

I was thinking about a 10d and getting a printer.

Does anyone have any advice or printer suggestions.

I was looking at a canon 960 or epson r800 or something similar.

Yeah i meant multiple exposures on one frame.

Like 4 shoots of a pitcher on one frame. Usually I move the camera slightly so you can see the background doesn't match up.

I'm considering getting the 300 f/4 IS sometime in the future.

I sometime take 4 shots of a baseball pitcher, but sometimes you can

tell i have moved the camera. Does the IS help very much.

I just got one off b and h and it rattles.

my only other 2 filters (hoya uv and pol) do not?

Should i return it or is this normal?

I like my slik pro 700, i think 700 dx.

I have only had it a few weeks.

It cost about 130 (with pan and tilt head) at b and h. It has gotten good reviews.

It is pretty heavy if that is a factor.

I was debating getting a good 300mm lense and found about every site on the web that compares lenses to each other

I don't have any first hand use but after reading reviews, ratings and comparisons my conclussions were this.

The older non IS 300 version is somewhat sharper than the current IS version (But photodo's review was by far the most drastic). Most notably at f/4 and only slight differences stopped down (i think one test showed the newer version was even better stoped down).

The 300 with a 1.4 converter is as good and probably sharper than the 100-400 zoom at 400.

And the 400 f5.6 is sharper than either.

My advice is get the 300 IS, keep the 70-200 f/4 (which i just ordered) and later add a 1.4 converter.

This should give you better quality in the same range as the 100-400 and would be much lighter to carry (at least the camera and the one lense attached) , plus at the 300 you gain a stop i think, and seems like alot of people do not like the build of the 100-400.

Does anyone know why B and H has not sold out of the 2 pack.

It is cheaper than the 5 pack and singles per roll.

I was just wondering if there was a difference?

I've searched but couldn't find exactly what im looking for.

Basically I would like to see the difference in background in say a

300mm lense at f5.6 versus f4.

I would like to know how much more a 300 would blur the background

behind a batter or pitcher.

The pitcher would be at 50 ft and the background at 200-300 ft.

A batter would be at 50 ft and the background at 65 ft.

I do have a 50mm 1.8 but im not sure how to simulate to to match the

above conditions at 300mm.

I have an Elan 7 and was planning on taking some little league team

photo's and maybe portraits. (The normal professional doesn't take

all-star pictures for some reason).

I would take them outside but wanted to use a flash to improve light

under caps etc.

What mode do i need to use? Does it matter?

I normally use Apeture priority but not with the flash.

I would like to shoot using a 50mm 1.8 at f4-f8.

Do I need to underexpose or anything when using the flash?

Also I'm assuming a speedlite would help in this situation?

But would a 550 improve much over a 420?

I'm probably going to get a 70-200 f/4 lense.

I will probably get a filter to help protect it because 550 is alot

to me.

Anyway how many other people use a uv filter for protection?

Also what brand and model would you recomend in the 20-50 price range?

I think i am leaning toward the r800 can you get a continual inking system with this printer?

also with the 2200 and r800 how much do you estimate a 8x10 costs?

it takes 5 hours for the ink to dry? How long till you are able to handle a photo? do pigment or dyes take longer?

This is a big concern because i will want to sell them right after printing? I have had some suggest dye-sub but i have heard the quality isn't as good

I need to print photos on site for little league games. Mostly 4x6,

8x10's and wallets.

I have read alot about canon's prints fading and epson printers

clogging.

I'm looking at the i960 and i9900 and the r800 and the 2200.

Do both the canon's fade? at the same rate? and how bad? I don't

want to come back to the little league a year later and have people

complaining about faded pictures.

The r800 seems pretty new, how does it perform compared to the 2200?

Can i avoid cloggin if i print every 3 days or so? If it does clog

how long does it take to get it fixed?

Also how long will it take for prints to dry?

Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.

an elan 7 but im thinking about going digital. It seems that the 10D

is the way to go.

For 10D owners

Is there a delay between the shutter button and the exposure? (I have

used family members digital cameras that have this)

Also what memory cards and accessories would you recommend

considering i'll need to take alot of picture (30-80 an hour)?

If you have any advice on printers that is welcome.

I'm looking to improve my current 100-300 f/5.6 non L and elan 7

setup. I've been debating a while (you may have seen my other posts).

I use it for little league so i have to have at least 280mm, and i

need a zoom so i don't miss shots that are closer to me.

For people who have used this setup how do you rate the focusing

speed and the quality of prints? how much improvement should i see

over the 100-300?

I just don't want to shell out $800+ and not see any or little

improvement.

But of course I will also use it without the teleconverter but just

not for business.

I have an elan 7 with a 50 f/1.8 and 100-300 f/5.6 i'm trying to to fill out the other ranges.

I would consider the 28 f/2.8 it is only 160 and should be lighter than the 17-40 and cheaper with good optics.

If you want a macro you should consider the 50mm or 100mm.

My advice is to get the 70-200 f/4 and go from there.

It has a 1:5 macro (so you can figure if you want one of the macros)

You can see if you need a faster lense.

And you can see if you need a wider angle and how much wider.

I guess you need to figure if you plan on using a tripod at all, and what type of film and speed you plan on using.

how does the 100-300 sigma compare with the 300L IS of canon?

i'm looking for a lense for little league games, but i need to have at least 300mm, but i need 100-150mm for slides into 3rd and home.

i currently have the 100-300 f5.6 non L lense but it's af is too slow and an f4 would be a big help, plus better optics would be nice.

i think the 100-400 is probably heavier than i would like plus i hear the push-pull is bad for dust and ball fields are usually dusty.

so basically i would love a 150-300 f/4 (or something like that) with the quality of the 70-200 f/4.

how does the 70-200 f4 do with a 1.4 teleconverter, i guess i could also carry 2 bodies.

Does anyone know how you can find out release dates or information on

future lenses?

I just don't want to buy a lense and then a newer more suitable one

comes out after i have just bought one.

It would be nice if i could get a 150-300 twist zoom or something

like that.
