Thanks Dimitris, Because the lake was distant, the camera had to be set a bit higher than eye level to get more water in the image. So I set the camera on a 10 lb. bag of Kmart birdseed positioned on the top of my car. Attached was a remote shutter release. One makes do with whatever is at hand.

"Yo, sup dawg?"
Cute shot and looking eager for a scratching.
-
Nice shot Len, there should be some eager beaks hanging out of there soon.
-
Beautiful shot Tony and nicely composed.
Good for a large print. I wonder if it might pop even more being a tad darker, but certainly a winner as is.
-
Nice shot, looks like he's into the groove.

Please let me know which of these two you like best and why.
Thanks.

Your choice?
Thanks for lookin'

This seemed interesting on several levels; an unfinished or abandoned
Oriole nest made of Easter basket filling and carelessly discarded
fishing line is "recycled" by local House finches.. He NEVER got into
it while she picked and pulled her way through the goods. Just like
when I go shopping with my wife.

Nice work Tue.
The darker bg helps set off the bird beautifully.

Interesting shot Len,
On small size my first thought was of a tree blocking a road..
In larger view the thing comes into reality.
While I like the composition, springtime seems to want color...

Love the position. It has the flow!

Hi Mike,
Funny that we both had the same thought. I did exactly that and asked my wife which she liked... and posted her choice...
Ideally I should go back to the original file and see if there is more reed for the bottom which would allow the same crop but without the wasted real estate at the top and still give the effect.

Thanks guys,
Tue I thought that the lens camera combo was optimal for this shot.
This is almost a full frame shot but I wanted to keep the idea of the shear cliffs these characters navigate.
Here's as tight (low res, 164kb image for repost) as I can go without crowding the subjects.

Thanks Tony,
The following two shots show the reason for this otherwise strange looking behavior.

This group seemed to be moving downhill so I picked a spot and waited.
A few hours later it was close enough to join me for lunch.

While working on the computer I glanced at the radar and live cams at
HB and suddenly saw the sand go white!
Got on the rain gear, tossed some camera stuff in a sack and lit the
fuse on the Subie in time to see a wild scene in "Surf City USA".
To see live shots google "surfing hail Huntington beach youtube"
