short version: send the lens to sigma, they will re-chip it for free

so i have had it with ETTL that doesn't work, got rid of it and got
cheaper and more powerful flash unit, with longer zoom, sunpak 5000
af.
now, short of setting everything manually, are there any tips and
tricks that may minimize the pain?

i use histogram instead of manual metering, seems faster and more accurate. YMMV.

question: why does the article talks about prime lenses? are there any issues with using TCs on zoom lenses? i sure would love to use TC on 28..135 IS lens.

FWIW, my old nikon 4500 could use both nikon battery and 2cr5. maybe it's worth a try.

good shot!
for prints - i print my digital at (gasp) costco, $3 for 12x18 inch glossy print. i think it's even cheaper than using inkjet. of course you adjust image at home, and costco drones print it faithfully on their fuji machine.

if your old folks are anything like mine, consider canon s1 IS - image stabilizer comes handy for shaky hands.

investing more in glass than in camera is a commonplace, but i was never happier than with 50mm 1.8L that could be bought for peanuts. it will most likely also make you a better photographer.
i also would not invest into Canon 10 unless it has some feature you absolutely need. any digital camera will be obsolete in a year or two.
Unsharp pictures with Canon Digital Rebel. Is this normal?
