  1. I am using Godox X2T-N on Nikon D850 as trIgger for 2 off-camera flashes that are attached to X1R-N. The X2T-N came with a cord that plugs into the D850 9-pin socket. If I choose not to use this cord, what functionality I loose?
  2. D850 The MY MENU (called by pressing the Fn2 button) entire screen starts with "ISO sensitivity settings", instead of the actual list of items I store in MY MENU. So every time I want to access MY MENU, after pressing the Fn2 button, first I have to exit the "ISO sensitivity settings". Really annoying. How can I eliminate this and get straight to the MY MENU list of items?
  3. What is the best solution to use 2-5 off-camera flashes (SB-800, SB-5000) wirelessly with the D850 body? It must work at least to 30 m in distance, and each flash output level (Manual mode, 1/1 - 1/128) should be adjustable remotely at the body side. Ideally looking for a portable, travel friendly solution.
  4. With Nikon D750, this issues does not exist, monitor works fine while Vello is plugged (different connector).
  5. the no answer answer from Vello Customer Service: We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Vello Wireless ShutterBoss III. The issue that you are describing sounds like a camera settings issue, since the Shutterboss does not interface with the LCD monitor of the camera. Please check your camera for a setting that may interfere with the functionality of the monitor. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or comments.
  6. What are the real-life uses, potentials of the supplied Nikon UC-E22 USB cable with D850? I have been dragging around one such cable on my travels (2-8 weeks), but never needed and it is heavy. Before I permanently leave at home, I would like to know what opportunities I may miss out if not having one at hand. (Both photo and video functions)
  7. Vello Wireless ShutterBoss III (RCW-3-N) connected to Nikon D850 via 10-pin connector works (takes wireless pictures), but the D850's back LCD screen is solid black (unable to review images or access menus). How I get back the LCD function without unplugging the ShutterBoss?
  8. I need to photograph 9 fps for approximately 10-15 sec using 2-3 off-camera flashes. D850, with battery grip, SB-800. Subject is about 3-5 meters away. Flashes about 2-3 m away from subject. What is the best configuration for off-camera flash operation and 9 fps firing? (PocketWizard, Quantum, ...etc.?)
  9. One additional use I found and utilized for the battery pack, although rarely, is holding AA batteries. If you are in the middle of nowhere, sometimes it is easier or the only solution is to bring AA vs. charging. One (1) set of AA approximately provides the same number of shots as one (1) EN-EL15 battery.
  10. What are the real-life uses of Nikon MB-D18 Multi-Power Battery Pack (for D850 body)? I have three of these on my bodies, but other than adding extra volume and weight (it would not fit into a small/midsize camera backpack with lens attached), the only advantages I see if I shoot time-lapse, or if there is absolutely no way I can change batteries during a long shooting session, or offer comfort for vertical shooting. Then, it needs to be removed to change battery in the body, to fit the body into an Ewa-Marine case for sandproofing, for underwater housings, etc.. For the same volume and weight I can just carry 3-4 charged EN-EL15 batteries and would be in a better position. Opinions?
  11. <p>Before shelling out 5K or so, I wanted to make sure that none of the ready-made solutions, templates or how you want to name them can do this.</p>
  12. <p><strong>jAlbum Mirage</strong><br> If embedded (include) into a page, then the URL is lost. Can not change the navigation icon graphics. Plus some other problems.</p>
  13. <p>"Even if at an angle for the weight of camera and lens to create sufficienct torque, once the small rotation occurs it becomes stable in that direction."<br> <br> I use heavy Nikon Ds, big lenses, 1-3 h time-lapse exposure, so it must be rock solid. (Yes, I know it was not designed for that, but this is one of the few options for select extreme travels.)</p> <p>Alufoil is a VERY smart suggestion! Easy to carry, replace, adjust, etc. Will try.</p>
  14. <p><strong>"admin panel"</strong><br /> Adding/updating images, captions, keywords, etc. are all done in any convenient user interface (i.e, I do not have to use manually telnet/unix/vi to update the .php file in order to change the caption for an image). <br /> <br /> <strong>"jAlbum"</strong><br /> I tried a couple skins, the embedding takes away the unique URLs of the image viewing pages, I have not seen options to customize the position and graphics of the navigation buttons (arrows for next, previous images, etc.).</p>
  15. <p>Correct!<br /> "...it appears from the illustrations I've looked at that there is a peg on the top of the tripod legs, which is supposed to engage a hole in the column flange when the column is all the way down, and that this peg is smaller than the hole. And thus that the entire column is rotating slightly in the legs. Is this correct?"</p> <p>Thank you for your take on the possible solutions!</p>
  16. <p>Thank you for the further input.</p> <p>"it's that you asked something more complicated than you think you asked"<br> <br> Incorrect. I am well aware of the (relative) complexity this requires, yet also aware that nothing is really special or extraordinary in my request - a plain photo gallery where you can pick colors and font types. No e-com, no soc med, no singing and dancing thumbs or other nonsense, just a simple display. I know this can be done in drupal from scratch for $5K, but a little surprised to learn that none of the thousands of pre-made $100 or so templates are capable of doing this. </p> <p>If anyone could point me to one, that would be highly appreciated.</p>
  17. <p>Guys, thank you for the responses. <br> Any <strong>specific</strong> answer of a template/platform that is capable of doing all of these?<br> (Discussing the theory and logic behind is all nice and interesting, but I am looking something that actually can do it. Also, some of the raised issues are missing the point of the original question, e.g., "First, all images have unique URL's" - a significant number of web galleries do not change the URL when advancing the images so for practical purposes they do not have unique URLs; "You can't have pixel-size-specific thumbnails" - it is stated pixel or %..., etc.)</p>
  18. <p>Any suggestion where I can buy a web photo galley template from that is capable of doing <strong>ALL</strong> of the following:</p> <p><strong>Thumbs:</strong></p> <ul> <li>thumb images are auto-generated</li> <li>thumbs organized in a table where i can define: <ul> <li>rows x columns</li> <li>thumb height or width (maintain aspect) in pixel or %</li> </ul> </li> <li>thumb table can be embedded into any webpage</li> <li>thumb table colors and all other parameters are fully customizable</li> </ul> <p><strong>Image main viewing:</strong></p> <ul> <li>each image page has its unique URL</li> <li>each image page has its own custom page title, page keywords, page description, alt text</li> <li>image height or width in pixel and/or % can be defined</li> <li>all navigation buttons can be replaced by custom buttons or selectively turned off and positioned anywhere</li> <li>all colors, borders, background, etc. are editable</li> <li>caption can be on or off image</li> </ul> <p><strong>Other:</strong></p> <ul> <li>caption can accommodate italics text and link option</li> <li>no third party credit or "powered by" line</li> <li>fully responsive for all devices</li> <li>easy admin panel interface</li> </ul>
  19. <p>Gitzo G0011 table tripod:</p> <p>Any trick to make sure the head (D0011.11) <strong>does NOT move at all</strong> and feels as a one, single rock-solid piece with the rest of the tripod?</p> <p>The small movement that is very annoying comes from the fact that the center column's two screw-rings (DB453 and DB455) and top screw (D01.110) can not be tightened to perfection by hand, so if loading with a heavy camera, the center column will rotate - a fraction of a degree, but that is destructive enough - clockwise or counterclockwise. This is despite that there is a small peg sticking out on the top of the tripod that fits to the socket on the bottom of D0011.11 meant to prevent this exact rotation. Since the socket is too big for the peg, the head will feel and act loose.</p> <p>I am looking for ways, preferably not by welding permanently, to eliminate this movement. (I used to put gaffer tape onto the socket thus making it tighter and force the peg into it, a temporary solution.)</p> <p>https://www.manfrottospares.com/download/pdfs/G0011.pdf</p> <p>http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFg5NTA=/z/eKEAAOxy3NBSnAEL/$_21.JPG?set_id=880000500F</p>
  20. <p>Thanks a lot!<br /> My question relates to use the Canon S100/120 (no annoying touch screen in these models) as a secondary UW and/or easily portable UW camera.<br /> I use the Nikon D3 series with Aquatica and Ikelites -- it is absolutely awesome workhorse, but sometimes just prohibitively heavy and/or bulky. So I need the best alternative in a VERY small and portable version.<br /> More opinions are appreciated!</p>
  21. <p>Canon <strong>PowerShot S100</strong> + <strong>WP-DC43</strong> Waterproof Case for PowerShot S100<br> Canon <strong>PowerShot S120</strong> + <strong>WP-DC51</strong> Waterproof Case for PowerShot S120<br> What are the best options to have two (2) off-camera underwater (scuba diving) flash for either or both of the above two configurations?<br> Price is not a factor, but small size, portability and reliability, power is very desirable.<br> Thank you!</p>
