  1. It's hard to fire wireless SB on the right side if you're in a Church. Nowhere for the commander SB to bounce light to trigger your SB on the right. The left is no problem since the sensor is in direct view of the commander.
  2. Found something really cool, in case you don't want to use photoshop. More powerful and flexible and free. Go go download.com and search A.F.5 Rename. Confusing at first but when you get the hang of it, it can be very creative. HTH
  3. There was an article last week, links posted on here somewhere. Nikon did in fact mention they will allocate more efforts in developing new DSLR's and slowing down on their consumer line since everyone and their grandmothers own a digital camera now. Let's just hope they do it fast enough.
  4. Eric - I used to shoot with 2 Nikon D70's. This year I shoot with 1 D2X and just switch lenses. (D70's in the bag for back-up) I mainly shoot with 17-55DX and 70-200VR. I use 17-35 for formals. If I had the speed, I would use primes. I still love my 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 but I'm not fast enough and often compromise my positions so I'm finding myself with the zooms mostly. But the 17-35 and 17-55DX comes very close to primes.

Are you a Canon or Nikon shooter?

  5. Dan - go for the D70, it's a great camera!

John, just curious, how come you didn't go with Canon if 12mp isn't enough? And what do you think of the D2X after having it for a week? Does Canon really have a camera over 17mp?

  6. There's no doubt that photography skills comes first before the gear. But it's just funny when a guest with a D70 or 300D looks at you with that "I can shoot as good as you" face.

2 weeks ago, a guests came up to me with a D70, shoots the same frame I did and says "I shot a wedding with this camera". I said yes it's a great camera, I use 2 of them with different lenses. But in my mind I'm thinking "then why the heck did they not hire you" or "did you shoot the wedding with a pop-up flash cuz I don't see you with an SB".

Paul - you'll have a blast with the 17-55. It's become my favorite next to the 50 and 70-200.

  7. I can't wait til the Nikon D50 comes out. Then you'll have an army of guests shooting along side with you with Nikon D50's and Canon 300D's without flash trying to box you out and shadow your every move. Ha! =)

    I carry a D70 and the past 2 weddings, I've seen a couple of guests with D70's.

  8. Matt -

I had to bring in my D2X because I had dirt on the CCD the first time I took it out. They said they haven't been trained on most of the complicated service types but cleaning was no problem. I would definitely ask for a new one, especially since it was broken to begin with.

  9. I've only noticed spots once in a while, maybe less than 1% of my shots. And if you're shooting digital, you can always patch it. Mutli-coated filters help a lot. I've had ones that aren't coated and they showed more glare. With my clumsy self, it's definitely worth putting one on.
  10. I can see it now, meeting with a potential customer...

Wow I happen to notice you have a double chin! We have a Nip Tuck package for that, you know. I'll make you look better than you do now!

I've always been afraid to do any body retouching as they may see it as an insult. Only minor things like zits. I've never been asked to alter major appearances so this is certainly an interesting request.

Good luck Nadine... certainly charge for it!
