    Orchy power

I have a couple heavy HDR images of similar scenes. I found that desaturating the sky from fake blue looking overcast but, dramatic, clouds to much more gray was a desirable adjustment. Perhaps you may as well.

"Subjective it is John H., but that's what the discussion of the POW is typically centered around - subjectivity."

I gather so, but, the comment was directed at photographs containing the same subject matter. The comment was more about the view on that rather than the view on the POW itself.

  1. I agree a bit over saturated but in a way a lot of people will like. HDRish like effect is within reasonable standards plus a well balanced result The shutter choice worked with respect to the waves and the mixed effect. The framing and composition is good.

    A success.

I'm glad you like it Charles although I think the rating average is generous. Looking back as an early digital image for me, the composition is adequate for what I had to work with, highlighting the stretch of fog probably a good idea and the post production a hack job. I would do things differently now.

    Heavy Snow

I'm not sure if its really a landscape, I guess it is, but it has more depth and conveys a story and mood more so than the others. Good composition and flash on the snow adds to the image. The bright yellow umbrella in the distance was fortuitous.
  2. "Nice to have captured the lone one stranded in the middle of the brook."

Reality check: The image is nice but physically placing a pristine colorful fall leaf on a rock in a stream or a pool at the bottom of a waterfall and having it appear as lower foreground interest in a photo is an old cliche' constantly done technique. Its not a "capture" of "the lone stranded" leaf. It was put there and staged as though it were.

If you didn't notice this before, you will in the future.
