QG,
Your reply is just what I have understood from several backgrounds, also from representative of Zeiss at intereview of Colorphoto magazine.Could you although still give some views why it is so.

You can calculate (or draw) image circles from shift information given in manual or broshyre of Flexbody.

The finder that was made for Flxbody (RMx, or something like that). Finder suits both cameras, ground glasses are different.

Answer is again Gossen, it has LW (EV) scale.

CFi is much more comfortable to focus, it can affect also to the amount of sharp shots. Lock of synch cable is pretty convinient too. There are other changes also, like 60 vs. 70 filter size of 50 mm CF vs. CFi lens that gives more shift when used with Flexbody. And CFi's are younger too. They both are good, but buying CFi instead of CF could make sense.

My camera service converted my Lynx 14e to take CR-1/3N battery. Works so fine now.

Shutter release button feeling of GX is just like for example feeling of Hasselblad 905 SWC that does not include any kind of light measuring device. Shutter release feeling is totally different if compared to 2,8 F or even to TLR Yashicas! But you get used to it, no problem.

David,
There is nothing wrong with FDn 24 mm f:1,4 L. High quality high speed lens. Of course every type of lens has it's own character, the worst ones for shure, but the best ones too.
I have had my FDn 24 mm L now for 20 years and done plenty of work with it too. Taken plenty of photos wide open and stopped down too. Also stopped down to f:16, target of photo lightened with powerful flash (Metz 60) and sun included in the photo background. Makes beautiful magazine cover pictures. Also pretty good lens for interior architecture photographing. I have also used plenty Hasselblad 905 SWC for same kind of purposes, so I suppose I have recent reference.
David, FDn 24 mm 1;1,4 L is worth of trying.

Ray,
80 USD for a properly done service of high quality classic camera is a good deal and a Contaflex is for shure worth of it. They are beautiful cameras still able to produce high quality photos with classic Zeiss optics touch. Take care of them and have fun when taking photos and enjoy your chromes & B&W prints.

Howard,
Retinas were not made by Zeiss, but former Nagel-Werke of Dr. Nagel. Kodak did buy Nagel-Werke already in 30's. Although Dr. Nagel did work before founding his's own company for Zeiss.

Tom gave the only sensible reason I have ever heard for using a Rolleikin set. Although it is very nice piece of engineering, so nice to have.

Now version question is easy: "It's a huge chunk of glass." means of course C version of Distagon 40 mm f:4.

I have now been experimenting with FDn 300 mm 1:4 L, 2xA, 2xB, New F-1 AE with motor, HP-accumulator and spot measuring focusing screen. Lens, doublers and camera in order as above. At least keeping the whole system vibration free is difficult. After exposure you see easy viewfinder picture vibrating. Fixing also camera from bottomplate to the heavy stative with extra connector helps. More results later.

Not Relleicord, it has "the wheels" for adjusting time & aperature, it is Rolleiflex Automat.

I have been playing with late Automat, MX-EVS. Beautiful camera and high performace unit in taking photos. Still would be so good to get some day uncoated Automat. These Tony's photos were beautiful!

What all kind of things you have adapted to Retina IIIc (or IIc, IIC, IIIC)
with microscope adapter (Retina-Mikroansatz). I know that it was made for
combining the camera & microscope, but I guess that it could be used for
attacing just almost anything. Attaching a telescope would be pretty nice? What
did you attache? How did you do it? What kind were the results?
And Merry Christmas to everyone!

Best thing in type E is Lichtwerte-coupled (EV) shutter & aperature. It is convinient when operating with auxilary (Gossen) light meter that shows Lichtwerte (EV) steps. F does not have this any more while it has coupled light meter. Both E and F are fine cameras.
