  1. Hi All, I feel really dumb. I just purchased the Think Tank Photo Pro Speed Belt V3.0 and Hubba Hubba Hiney Shoulder Bag V3.0. Can’t figure out how to attach the bag to the belt. There’s supposed to be a white “tongue” somewhere that gets inserted into the belt but I can’t locate it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
  2. Hi All, Just returned from a vacation week in the Orlando area visiting the many attractions. I took my Canon 80D plus the 18-55 f/4 kit lens as I wanted to travel light. Unfortunately, I found the 55mm focal length to be way too short for many of the sights (including animals). For future trips, I’m looking for a lightweight combo to include the kit lens plus a moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto zoom (see below for my current lenses) and I’ve been looking at the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM (don’t want a 3rd party lens). It’s received very good reviews. I intend to use the lens primarily outdoors so the variable aperture range shouldn’t be a problem and I think the 250mm end will be enough for my needs. I’m limited by budget and this lens fits well. I noticed that perhaps 98% of the tourists used their smart phones but in order to maintain my image as a “professional” amateur, I knew I had to use “professional” equipment.:) Besides, my smart phone doesn’t have a zoom lens and I don’t intend to purchase a new one anytime soon. Any suggestions or thoughts? What do you all take when on vacation and want to travel light? Current lineup (all Canon lenses): 10-22mm f/3.5, 18-55mm f/4 STM, 24mm f/2.8 pancake STM, 50mm f/1.8 STM, 70-210mm f/4 IS, 100mm f/2.8 macro, and 400mm f/5.6.
  3. Hi All, I recently purchased a Buff 51" white PLM only to discover that I already had one in my very messy storage closet along with three of their optional accessory fabrics.. I'm wondering if I should return it. What I'd be using it for are portraits of people and pets plus studio still life photos. What do you think?
  4. Hi Everyone, I’ll be purchasing a Paul C. Buff CyberSense to use with my Digibee 800. While I’ll need a CyberSync Transceiver, I’ll also need either a battery-operated CyberSync™ Battery Powered Plus Receiver or a CyberSync™ AC Powered Plus Receiver. With the AC Plus unit I won’t ever have to worry about changing batteries; are there other advantages? Why would someone buy the battery powered receiver? Thank you.
  5. AJG, All fixed! Rookie mistake. Actually, the 15-foot sync cord was NOT firmly attached to the Alien Bee. Everything works well now. I feel so embarrassed. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
  6. Hi All, I’m having a problem with syncing my Canon 80D to my Alien Bee B800. I have the AB standard 15-foot sync cord going from the 80D (with a hot shoe adapter mounted) directly to the B800. One night all was well but the next night the unit failed to flash. I switched out the B800 with a 2nd unit and also used both a different sync cord and hot shoe adapter to no avail. I know the flash is not defective because I can manually release it using the flash test button. I made sure all connections were firm. Could it be that somewhere in the process I inadvertently disabled something in the 80D’s menu system? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi All, I’m looking into purchasing a circular polarizing filter and have a question. During my research, I came upon a review that claimed that polarizers which transmit more light don’t polarize as much as those that transmit less light. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. True? See link below and look for the review of the B+W 77mm XS-Pro HTC Kaesemann Circular Polarizer with Multi-Resistant Nano Coating https://havecamerawilltravel.com/photographer/polarizing-filter-shootout/
  8. Thanks everyone. I'll go with a roll of cinefoil. You just saved me $50!
  9. Hi All, I was looking into getting the LiteMod™ Snoot (20o beam spread) for my Alien Bee B800. I intend to use this for portrait and product photography. However, I already have the Buff stripbox grid (40o beam), a 22” beauty dish grid (30o beam), a honeycomb grid set for my standard 7” reflector (10o, 20o , 30o, 40o beam spread). Would the snoot just be a redundancy or would it offer something the other modifiers don’t? Thanks for your thoughts.
  10. Thank you gentlemen. I've placed an order through Adorama (the are having a special sale price of $79.95; regularly $109). I'll let you know what I've found out. While I do have a Canon 100mm macro lens, I think I'd prefer the lighter weight of the tubes for travel.
  11. Hi All, I'm looking into purchasing the set of Kenko Extension Tubes for my Canon 80D https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/375102-REG/Kenko_AEXTUBEDGC_Auto_Extension_Tube_Set.html. I have some Canon EF lenses and some EFS lenses. Here's my question: will the Kenko tubes provide auto focus for the EFS lenses? I've searched the Kenko website and various forums and can't get a definitive answer. I know the tubes will physically fit the EFS lenses but am not sure if they will provide for auto focusing. Please help. Thanks.
  12. <p>Hi All,<br> Typically when a new camera is released, all the various photo forums post pros and cons (I think more cons than pros). I haven't seen much about the 80D and am wondering why. Not many purchasing this model? Purchased one last year and I find it's fantastic. I'll put something up in a future post. Just wondering.</p>
  13. <p>Hi All,<br> I’m looking into buying either a 51-inch Paul C. Buff WHITE PLM <a href="http://www.paulcbuff.com/plm-white.php">http://www.paulcbuff.com/plm-white.php</a> with the following 3 options:<br> White Front Diffusion Fabric (WFDF) <a href="http://www.paulcbuff.com/wfdf.php">http://www.paulcbuff.com/wfdf.php</a><br> <strong> </strong>Black Front Spill Kill Fabric (BFSPKF) <a href="http://www.paulcbuff.com/bfspkf.php">http://www.paulcbuff.com/bfspkf.php</a><br> Black Outer Cover Fabric (BOC) <a href="http://www.paulcbuff.com/boc.php">http://www.paulcbuff.com/boc.php</a><br> <br> <strong><em>OR</em></strong> the 46-inch Photek Softlighter II.<br> <br> <em>Here are my 2 questions </em>(the setup will be used indoors):</p> <ol> <li> <p>In various forums/reviews, I've read that while all agree the Softlighter II produces great light, some say its build quality could be better. I've not read such concerning the PLM. Your experience please.</p> </li> <li> <p>Does the Softlighter II come with the equivalent of the 3 Buff options listed above? I’ve read the product description but am still not sure.</p> <p>Thank you.</p> </li> </ol>
  14. <p>Hi All,<br> I recently purchased a Canon 80D and purchased a SanDisk 32MB card to go with it. <a href="https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/824140-REG/SanDisk_SDSDXPA_032G_A75_Extreme_Pro_32_GB.html">https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/824140-REG/SanDisk_SDSDXPA_032G_A75_Extreme_Pro_32_GB.html</a><br> I now want to purchase a 64GB SanDisk card but am not sure which iteration to buy; very confusing. Same price but different manufacturer part numbers:<br> 1. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1276278-REG/sandisk_sdsdxxg_064g_ancin_extremepro_sdhc_64gb.html</p> <p>2. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1282965-REG/sandisk_sdsdxxg_064g_gn4in_extremepro_sdhc_64gb.html</p> <p>Appreciate your advice.</p> <p>Thanks.</p>
  15. <p>Hi All,<br> I'm in the market for a strip box to use for portraits (hair lighting, side lighting) plus tabletop pictures and am looking at two brands:<br> Impact <a href="https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/884448-REG/impact_lb_std_s_luxbanx_duo_small_strip.html/?c3nid=Criteo-shoppers-300x600&c3ch=Display&ap=y">https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/884448-REG/impact_lb_std_s_luxbanx_duo_small_strip.html/?c3nid=Criteo-shoppers-300x600&c3ch=Display&ap=y</a> and<br> Paul C. Buff 10" x 36" http://www.paulcbuff.com/stripboxes.php<br> Product must be fast to set up and be able to accept an optional grid. The Buff unit comes with a speed ring already attached while a separate one must be purchased for the Impact. I will use this with the Alien Bees B800 units I have.<br> I would appreciate your thoughts.</p> <p>Thank you.</p> <p> </p>
  16. <p>All,<br> Sorry, forgot to mention that I live in the New York City area.</p>
  17. <p>Hi All,<br> Hope this is the right forum to post in. I've just had some old Kodachrome 35mm slides scanned and am looking for an excellent pro-quality lab to make some prints. I'm thinking I'd like to display them on my living room wall in sizes from 5"x7" up to 16"x20"; maybe mounted/framed in a variety of print surface types.<br> Looking for some recommendations for a top quality lab from those of you who have actually used them.</p> <p>Thanks!</p>
  18. <p>Hi All,</p> <p>Thanks for your suggestions. I opted to use wetransfer.com; works like a charm!</p>
  19. <p>Hi All,<br> I recently took a couple of dozen photos for a friend but when I tried to email them, I got a popup message that the files exceeded the threshold allowed. I had to send each photo in a separate email. I need to take some more photos for the same person this weekend. What can I do to send all (or at least several) at the same time? Her goal is to make at least one giant enlargement from just one of the photos she selects from the group, 16x20 or larger so I want to maintain quality.<br> I have a Canon 80D, Adobe Elements 14 and my email carrier is Cablevision/Optimum Online. The camera was set to the largest JPEG image recording quality available.<br> <br> Thank you.</p>
  20. <p>Thanks everyone for your input. I've just ordered the 24mm STM.<br> FYI: One thing I just noticed is that the 24mm STM is an EF-S lens while the 40mm STM is EF so will fit either crop or full frame bodies. Doesn't matter to me since I don't plan on upgrading to full frame. Just thought you should know.</p>
  21. <p>Hi All,</p> <p>Need your advice. I just received my Canon 80D(!) and want to purchase a general purpose walk around prime lens. Something small, lightweight, that I can use for family shots (including my 5 dogs) in the house plus outdoor pictures of general images – not landscapes. I guess something that approximates a normal 50mm lens on a crop body.</p> <p> </p> <p>I’m considering the 24mm STM, 40mm STM and 50mm f/1.8 STM but don’t want to duplicate ranges I already have with my current lenses: 10-22mm, 100mm macro, 70-200 f/4 and 400mm f/5.6. The 24mm might be too close to the tail end of the 10-22 and the 50mm might be too narrow plus I’ve read some bad things about the build quality although it does allow about 1.3 more stops over the 24mm and 40mm. <br> I’m thinking the 40mm is the way to go but would welcome your expertise and experience.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thank you.</p>
  22. <p>Thanks Puppy Face for the clarification.</p>
  23. <p>UPDATE:<br> Just heard back from Canon. Yes, the 80D <em><strong>is</strong></em> WiFi capable; They apologized for their error.</p>
