Wait until the waranty runs out or you may end up with an expensive paperweight?
huh? wha ?
-
it all boils down to money, if you got the cash, canon it is just because it is better made, nicer to have, more features with the USM and etc.... but you wont notice it in the picture. If I had the cash I would so get that 2.8 canon.
-
oh just get the 50mm, if you want wider, back up more, if you want tele, go forward more. just dont fall off the cliff.
-
I think its marketing, they just hold out from affordable machinese so ppl will buy the expensive ones too. and the cheap viewfinders does it's job well, I think the 1 series viewfinder is more luxury than necessity. like huyndai vs BMW
-
I think you would want to use the 50 1.8 for the grand canyon. this normal lens is the mid point of everything you want to do.
-
NO, thats an EFS lens, the hood already factored in the 1.6 i think...
-
yes.
-
Woah. that is weird. maybe due to the 20D's smaller size , you just dont have enough to grab. try the battery grip. maybe that would help.

My first set of rebates came in fine, my second set encountered a problem. they didnt give me the full 420 bucks, only 100. I resubmited photocopies and I hope things will be ok later on... :(

I fit a 300D, 70-200 F4, Tamron 28-75 2.8, 1.5x multiplier, 50mm, a handheld meter, and various remotes and plugs and cables all fit into this 25 dollar bag from canon. the canon GB2400 and I swapped out the strap to a TAMRAC suede padded strap and it bears the load quite well
-
yeah, batteries last only like a year. lithium ion batteries last better, but NiMH batteried die out. I believe the 1D uses Nimh batteries. Old technology just does that you know ? time for new batteries.
-
forget the 200mm 1.8 , get a 20D and use iso 3200.
-
beware of the flourite lens when the 300D explodes...
-
Wow, as I read, you are just starting out and plunked down 4 grand on stuff ! You must be rich, so I will tickle your fancy... dispose of the 18-55 kit lens, and get a sigma 12-24 lens. ( because you will get a 1 series and they dont work with the 10-22 canon ) then get the 70-200 2.8 IS lens, then for the ultra low light work, get the 50 1.4 lens. Then get the canon 1.4x teleconverter. primes are good, but the more expensive L zooms are great in quality and still you can zoom. be sure to get the battery grip for your 20D, it is nice to have. good luck with your collection. ( never mind the cheaper F4L zooms, those are for ppl who cant afford/justify the 2.8L's such as myself )

do you frequent areas of high magnetic fields ? or maybe your USED 10D is busted.
-
I think you outta just sell the 1D and get a 20D. then you wont need the 1.8 since you have a 200 end of the 70-200 2.8. tell me if you really need that extra light when you have a 20d ?
-
Not a 20D owner, but 300D owner ( less of a camera ) and getting great 13x19 on a regular basis.
-
Tokina 28-70mm F/2.8 AT-X PRO SV = Soft 70mm.
-
it being digital, trail and error be the best shot ?
-
Hey, thanks alot for the info guys. Appreciate it ! :)

I use a nikon coolpix 2300 for light travel, in daylight this camera gives awesome results. and since I am traveling, I do want everything in focus anyway so I can see more later... Like all point and shoots, I cant use it at night well or for real photography.
-
well this is where a handheld meter comes in handy, just set it to the F stop you want to use and it gives you the shutter speed you would need. you want minimum handheld at 1/28 at 28mm, 1/50 at 50mm abd 1/70 at 70mm , all this 1.6X because we have digital rebels. so a 50mm on a Dreb will want 1/80 sec shutter speed or better.
-
Hello. I was wondering... I have a digital rebel. I selected
Parameter 1 and took a picture, then I selected ADOBE RGB and took a
picture.
I am using photoshop 6.0 with the RGB colorspace set to ADOBE RGB
and the box checked off so that PS will ask me when the color
profiles are mismatched.
I opened both pictures and was not asked anything when opening
either.
I double checked with the canon file viewer utility and the pictures
are indeed one sRGB and the other Adobe RGB under color space.
I read the Canon Manual and it didnt really provide any real
information about the Adobe RGB setting other than that ..
1- Mainly used for commercial printing
2- image will look veru subdued
3- image processing will be required
4- that this setting is not recommeded for who dont know Adobe RGB
and image processing.
I know adobe RGB to be have a large gamut ( big bunch of colors
available ) but what does the Drebel do when it is set on ADOBE RGB
vs being set on sRGB ? Is there a difference at all ? if so what
on earth could those difference be ?

70-200 f4, there is nothing cheaper than that in the 70-200 range in good quality.
