All the 41 photos in your singles folder are wonderful, each one.
I love this one for its originality, as well as the chessmen on each side of the frame.

Thank you for your thorough and insightful analysis of the photo. Quite
frankly, I had not thought of many of the things that you make reference
to. However, that evening, I chose to make a dramatic portrait of the
model
although the sun was going down fast.
I deliberately underexposed just a little to give a hint of the faltering
light (though I did use very minimal fill flash).
I asked the model if she could position her hands in a powerful way, like
a
Lioness in the African Plains, ready to make a kill. After some poses, I
decided on the pose captured, and shot a few frames, then sun had gone
down
by then, we had a good laugh and packed up to head home.
These are the thoughts and persuasions behind this image.

A beautiful composition in monochrome.
Reminds me a little of Moonrise over Hernandez, but is nontheless symbolic of the vast expanses and biting cold that you have in Canada.

Thanks for the comment. Your cropping emphasizes the model, whereas I chose to emphasize the Savannah plain.

Beautiful impression of Tulips.
Only the white streak running across the top right hand corner distracts a little.

Overall: Stunning subject with arresting eyes. I like the overall gold colour of this photo. A nice matching of the backround and the hair. I would have preferred if she had worn a lighter blouse, but sometimes we can't choose.
Lighting: The lighting is catchy, however underscored due to the shadows on the neck and below the eyes. A reflector would have taken care of those.
A nice effort by the photographer and model.

I somehow would have preferred "Smiling Boy" to "Poor Street Urchin". He does have a nice smile afterall. The titles we use sometimes tell us more about ourselves than the actual picture.
